NOVEMBER 4, 2024- MONDAY
Teacher: JONALVIN A. KE Learning Area: SCIENCE

CONTENT STANDARDS: The learners demonstrate the understanding of how the major
organs of the human body work together to form organ systems.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: The learners should be able to make chart showing healthful
habits that promote proper functioning of the musculoskeletal, integumentary, digestive,
circulatory, excretory, respiratory, and nervous systems.
LEARNING COMPETENCY: The learners should be able to explain how the organ of each
system works together (S6LTIIa-b1)

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the pupils should be able to:
a. identifies the different organs of the circulatory system
b. describes the parts and functions of each organ of the circulatory system
c. explains how the organs of each organ system work together

II. Content:
A. Subject Matter: Circulatory System-HEART
B. Science Concepts/Ideas:

The human heart, a tireless muscle, is the cornerstone of our circulatory system.
It's a complex organ that works tirelessly, pumping blood throughout our bodies,
delivering essential oxygen and nutrients to every cell.

A. Before the Lesson:

1. Review the previous lesson/Drill:
Read: Circulatory System, Heart, Blood, Blood Vessels, Atria, Ventricles, Atrium,
Vena Cava, Pulmonary Vein, Tricuspid valve, Mitral Valve, Aortic Valve.
2. Establishing a purpose for the lesson/ Motivation
Let the pupils locate their heart and feel their heart.

3. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson/Motivation

The human heart is one of the most important organs of the body that is essential
for survival. It is part of the circulatory system, which is the body system that
carries blood and other substances to and from the heart. The other main parts of
the circulatory system are blood vessels, which include veins, arteries, and
capillaries. And the heart beats automatically because it's controlled by the
autonomic nervous system. In 24 hours, your heart averages about 115,000 beats
per day.

B. During the Lesson:

1. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills No. 1
Watching Video Lesson: (ICT Integration)
 Encourage the pupils to join for a video lesson to delve into understanding
about the heart.
 Guide Question:

a. What are the functions of the heart?

b. What are the chambers of the heart.
c. Why does the heart have these chambers?

 Let the pupils watch a video lesson about the parts and functions of the
circulatory system.

2. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills No. 2

a. What are the four chambers of the heart, and what are their functions?
b. How do the heart valves ensure blood flows in the correct direction?

c. Explain the difference between pulmonary

1. Regular Exercise: Engage in at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise

most days of the week.
2. Healthy Diet: Consume a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and
lean proteins.
3. Manage Stress: Practice stress-reduction techniques like meditation, yoga, or
deep breathing.
4. Limit Alcohol and Tobacco: Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking can
damage the heart.
5. Regular Check-ups: Schedule regular check-ups with your doctor to monitor your
heart health.

5. Making Generalization
1. What are the four chambers of the heart, and what are their primary
functions?
2. How do the heart valves ensure that blood flows in the correct direction?

6. Evaluation:

Identify each part of the heart as carrying "Red" for oxygenated blood flow or "Blue"
for deoxygenated blood flow.

2. Right ventricle
3. Left Ventricle
4. Right atrium
5. Pulmonary vein

7. Additional activities for application or remediation
