Instructions
Setup chain:
With your desired size crochet hook and cotton yarn, ch 4; leave approximately 4 - 5” tail. Sl st
into 1st ch, creating a circle, and ch 1
Begin rounds:
(At the end of each round in this section, sl into the ch 1 of the previous round, ch 1 — this step
will be noted at the end of each round as a *)
Round 1: Sc into each ch st, * (4 sts)
Round 2: Sc 2 into each sc, * (8 sts)
Round 3: As round 2, * (16 sts)
Round 4: As round 2, * (32 sts)
Round 5: Sc into each sc around, * (32 sts)
Round 6: As round 5, * (32 sts)
Round 7: As round 5, * (32 sts)
Round 8: [Sc into next sc, Sc 2 into into next sc] repeat [ ] to end of round, * (48 sts)
At this point, you are done increasing, and you will have 48 sts around for the remainder of the
project.
Round 9: Work one sc in each sc around, maintaining 48 sts until piece measures 3.5” from the
center. This will be approximately 12-14 repeats of round 9. For these rounds, you may continue
to work the * instructions above, OR you can opt to sc over the seam created by the increase
rounds and work continuously with no ‘end’ of the round.
When you have reached desired height of the piece, proceed to the next section. Do not break
yarn.
Adding Handles:
With your yarn still attached, ch 8, skip 3 sts, sc into the next stitch to anchor your chain. This is
handle #1.
Sc in each stitch until you get to the opposite side of your bowl. Ch 8, skip 3 sts, sc into the next
stitch to anchor your chain. This is handle #2. At this point you should have both handles
attached, each being made up of 8 ch sts.
Finishing:
Fasten off, weave in ends. Block the piece if desired to your favorite bowl by lightly spraying
your piece with water, forming it to the shape of the bowl, and allowing to dry.
