STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
First of all, I would like to introduce myself, I am Jamal Nasir; I was born on 04-Aug-1995. I am a permanent resident of District Peshawar, Pakistan. Regarding my academic qualifications, I did my secondary school certification (SCC) in the year September, 2014 with Grade B and “Diploma of Associate Engineer (Electrical Technology)” in the year 2016 with Grade A from “Board of Technical Education KPKA” After this I did “BS PHYSICS” from University of Peshawar, Pakistan” in the year 2021.
What Covers BIOTECHNOLOGY, MSC: This Master’s in Biotechnology
covers key fields such as gene therapy, drug design, genomics, proteomics, genetic engineering for plants, animals and micro- organisms, and bioinformatics. This multidisciplinary MSc in Biotechnology course brings together aspects of chemistry, biology and cell biology to cover knowledge across several key fields. I will gain critical and analytical skills and learn to solve problems, establishing the practical and professional skills I will need for employment or further study. The course will also help me develop a creative attitude to the development and manufacture of biotechnology products. As well as subject-specific knowledge; I will also gain critical awareness of the advances at the forefront of biotechnology. By exploring these biological systems, I will learn to develop the technology, tools and products used in research, industry and agriculture.
Course Content Of BIOTECHNOLOGY, MSC: I found from the university
website that I will be required to study the following compulsory modules. Biotechnology Research Project (60 credits), Bioinformatics (30 credits), Research Methods and Data Management (30 credits), Academic English for Postgraduates (Science), Applied Molecular Biology (30 credits), Students are required to choose 30 credits from this list of options: Natural Product Biotechnology (30 credits), Colloids and nano-particles (15 credits) and Polymers and Structured Materials (15 credits).
How the Assessment will be made: Students will be assessed through a
variety of methods, such as: Classroom presentations, discussions and case- studies Critical reviews, looking at new areas of research Examinations.
How the Teaching will be done: This course is taught by lectures,
seminars, workshops and lab-based exercises, with the use of practical case studies. I will gain teamwork experience to simulate an industrial setting as well as the critical thinking and problem-solving abilities which are important for modern biotechnology practice.
Why did I choose UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH: I compared three
different universities of my interest for my master degree course, in these three universities I was interested in getting admission, and these were 1) UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH for the international students applying for 2023/24 the full course fee was £15,100. English language requirement was IELTS 6.5 overall with minimum 5.5 in each skill 2) Coventry University: the tuition fee was Full-time £18,250 for the 2023/2024 and IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5. 3) Birmingham City University: The Full-time fee was £16,300. English language requirement was overall score 7.0 with no component less than 5.5. Although tuition fee of UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH: was less than the other two universities. But keeping in mind the course content, big city environment, the university reputation, flexible English language requirement, I finally selected UNIVERSITY OF GREENWICH for my degree course.
Career Inspiration: With this degree in my hands I would be able to join different degree related jobs including Biomedical Engineer, Senior Biochemist, Senior Medical Scientist, Biological/Clinical Technician, Microbiologist, Process Development Scientist, Bio manufacturing Specialist, Biotech Product Analyst, Research Scientist, Senior Research Associate, Other jobs under the aegis of Biotechnology are research scientist, business associate, sales representative, Business Development Manager and Marketing Manager.
Why did I Choose UK but no other countries: The U.K has a reputation around the world as a country of learning and has centuries old history in Britain with Oxford and Cambridge, these both universities were founded over 800 years ago. The education system in Pakistan is still based on traditional ways and we still have outdated teaching and learning methods lacking modernization, innovation and creativity which is reflected in the times higher education of world university rankings 2022 according to this ranking 58 universities of U.K have come in the top 500 universities of the world and out of these universities. University of oxford and university of Cambridge are in the first and fifth position respectively. On the other hand not even a single university of Pakistan has come in this category. IELTS fee is one of the factors that allow me to select U.K for studying than selecting Australia, Canada or USA. Studying in Australia, Canada and USA is much expensive than that of U.K. Where U.K is far much better than these countries in term of accommodation, private student accommodation in the U.K has a weekly payment system and one will not have to pay for an entire month only to stay for a week or two. U.K master degree usually takes 1 year to finish while in other countries such as the USA master’s degree takes 2 years to finish that is why I have chosen U.K for further study. I will be able to complete my degree sooner, it will save money on fees and accommodation too as far as my carrier is concern. Nowadays the market and professionalism demand to enhance one technique and upgrade one skills and knowledge according to the market trend. So it demands me to get higher study for promotion as well as for carrier growth further. When I look the top management they all have studied from abroad university, and are getting handsome remuneration and grades. So I would like to accelerate my carrier by enhancing my knowledge also, that is why I prefer U.K for studying and it became easy for me to choose the U.K as my destination to continue my education further.
Summing up, UK is ranked second in the world for science and research and 54 per cent of our output is world-leading. UK graduates are among the most employable in the entire world. The UK’s academic reputation is world- renowned, 48 of the top 500 world universities, strict standards by the government for UK higher education institutions, state-of-the-art technology, latest equipment and IT ready to use, support and guidance every step of the way. So, it is natural to choose UK as my study destination.
