A devoted educator and spent many years as head of the
Philippine Normal Universitys Department of Filipino
She taught for 46 years
Retired as the Dean of Instruction on the said
University and had become the head of PNC under the
Department of Filipino in the year 1980

her first novel and in 1995
Anvil Publishing released the title and
saw it fit for ALIWW ( Alumna Award
for Writing) to keep the typescript
draft of her masterpice

Great Writer gets old as her

writings became gold :
By the time she started to get weak, three
of her nieces alternatively took care of
her on their decided schedule. Still
grandchildren and great grandchildren
continued to visit her as well as the people
from the Press for interviews and
researches.
On March 21, 2009, one of her

nieces, a known English teacher,
Teresita Bobis, planned to celebrate
her birthday at her house and gather
the side of the family to have
another family bonding.
All were ready except the Great

Writer who was in deep sleep in the
afternoon. When Teresita woke her
up to change her clothes before her
visitors arrive, it was found out that
the Great Writer was not only in deep
sleep, but was already resting in
peace
Genoveva Edrozo-Matute died on

March 21, 2009 at the age of 94.
She died in her own bedroom in the
city of Cubao in the Philippines. The
specifics of her death remain
unknown.
BUT..
Her works and contributions will live

forever and Filipinos will forever be
thankful for a Great Writer of our race.
Good men die, but their names
never die.
