Biomass Industry Overview
Towards these goals, Malaysia has been made some initiatives such as:
1) The 5th Fuel Policy
2) The National Biomass Strategy
3) MIGHT (Malaysia Industry-Government Group for High Technology)
4) The Malaysian Biomass Initiative under the Global Science and Innovation Advisory
Council (GSIAC)
Presently, the participation of SMEs in this industry is limited to low-value added

economic activities that do not fully optimize the potential of the biomass feedstock and
sustain competitiveness over the long-term.
It is estimated that the high value utilization of biomass resources in Malaysia is able to
generate added value of RM10-15 billion per annum.
Biomass Industry Overview
As we know, many of developed nations such as
European Union, South Korea, China and Japan are
commitment to address the climate change problem.
They are gradually switching to heat and power
generation from biomass.
The recent nuclear incident in Fukushima, Japan has

also been a major setback for the positioning of nuclear
power as a zero-carbon power source.
World gradually switching into more biomass as a part

of its commitment to use renewable energy for its
power generation. Its also to reduce the negative
impacts of its coal power generation on air pollution
and protecting the health of surrounding communities.

Biomass Industry in China
Bio self-Combusting particle production is one of new industry in China; biomass at

The deficiency of shredded EFB such as bulky in volume, high moisture and
low net calorific value is improved after being manufacture become EFB
pellet.
EFB pellet also be classified as a pellet energy source such as saw dust pellet.
After gone through the pelletization process, shredded EFB fibre become EFB
pellet which become a reliable biofuel resource.
Converting shredded EFB fiber becoming EFB pellet is a major contribution in

renewable energy.
Malaysia is well know for oil palm agriculture, and shredded EFB fibre is the
