SCIENCE FORM 4

PRACTICAL BOOK (Page 3)

• Problem:
A group of students want to investigate the
relationship between the length of a string
with the number of swings of a pendulum.
Aim To investigate the relationship
between the length of a string with
the number of swings of a pendulum.

Hypothesis The shorter the length of a string, the

more the number of swings of a
pendulum.
Variables i. Manipulated : …………………
ii. Responding : …………………
iii. Constant : Type of pendulum

Materials and String, ………………………………

apparatus
Procedure
(draw the diagram & label)

i. The apparatus was set up as shown

in the diagram by using 50 cm of a
string.
ii. The number of swings of a pendulum
in 1 minute was recorded.
iii. The experiment was repeated by
using 40 cm, 30 cm, 20 cm and 10 cm
and the number of swings was
recorded.
Data
The length of a Number of swings in 1
string (cm) minutes
10
20

50
Data Graph the number of swings in 1 minute
against the length of a string

Analysis 1. When the length of a string
decreases, the number of swings
of a pendulum increases.

Conclusion Hypothesis is accepted.
