Reading: The Vision
•All students reading at grade level.

•Providing the necessary tools to be


successful in MORE than just their English
classes.

•Become more fluent readers, writers and


thinkers
Corrective Reading
Curriculum
– Decoding: For students who have trouble
identifying words or how the arrangement
of letters in a word relate to its
pronunciation.

– Comprehension: for students who lack


vocabulary and background knowledge
needed to understand what they read.
Grades in Corrective Reading
•Based on classroom performance:
• Daily Workbook completion
• Daily Fluency passages (decoding
only)
• Mastery Tests- Assessment Grade
• Practice at home

The class is designed to build the following
areas for students who have fallen below
grade level expectations:

Reading is a scale for 2 300L - 500L

Gradebook:
• Its okay for there to be dashes- every student is
working on something different.
Homework:
• All materials stay in the room- homework will only
be on additional assignments.

Math: The Vision
•All students will grow 2 grade levels this
year.
•All students will learn important, basic
mathematical skills that will help them
prepare for high school mathematics and
beyond.
Math Intervention Classes

•Essentials for Algebra:


5th-7th grade content
•Connecting Mathematics:
3 -5 grade content

Math Information
•We will complete a lesson (and then
independent work) every 2-3 days.
•In each lesson, we will learn (or review) a
multitude of skills from prior years.
•Students will only have homework when
they don’t complete their work in class or
when they are absent.
Math Information Cont.
•All independent work needs to be turned in
BEFORE the related test.
•There will be a test after every 10 lessons.
•Students have access to the online text book
through Mrs. Orlando’s class, which is on
the student’s Blackboard.
