Henry VIII and

his six wives


Henry Tudor, son of Henry VII
of England and Elizabeth
York, was born at the royal
residence, Greenwich Palace,
on June 28, 1491. After the
death of his father, he became
Henry VIII, king of England.
He married six times,
beheaded two of his wives and
was the main instigator of the
English Reformation. His only
surviving son, Edward VI,
succeeded him after his death
on January 28, 1547.
Catherine of Aragon was the daughter of Queen
Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand II of Aragon.
She was the Queen of England as the first
wife of King Henry VIII; she was previously Princess
of Wales as the wife of Prince Arthur. They married
and Arthur died five months later. Catherine
subsequently married Arthur's younger brother,
Henry VIII. She couldn’t have a son, their only child
was Mary I. Henry VIII was infatuated with Anne
Boleyn and dissatisfied with his marriage to
Catherine.

Anne Boleyn was Queen of England  as the second


wife of King Henry VIII. Henry and Anne married
after a secret marriage in November . She was the
mother of Elizabeth I. She was beheaded.
Jane Seymour was Queen of England as the
third wife of King Henry VIII. She succeeded Anne
Boleyn . She died of postnatal complications less than
two weeks after the birth of her only child, a son who
reigned as King Edward VI. She was the only one of
Henry's wives to receive a queen's funeral, and his
only consort to be buried beside him in St. George's
Chapel ,Windsor Castle. She was the only wife of
Henry VIII whose son survived infancy.

Anne of Cleves was Queen of England


as the fourth wife of King Henry VIII The
marriage was declared
never consummated and, as a result, she
was not crowned queen consort.
Following was the annulment of their
marriage
Catherine Howard was Queen of England 
as the fifth wife of Henry VIII. Catherine
married Henry VIII almost immediately after
the annulment of his marriage to Anne of
Cleves was arranged. Catherine was
beheaded after less than two years of
marriage to Henry on the grounds of treason
for committing adultery while married to
the King.

Catherine Parr  was Queen of


England and of Ireland as the last
of the six wives of King Henry
VIII, and the final queen consort
of the House of Tudor. She
married him She was also the
most-married English queen, with
four husbands.
