ON ASSESSING LEARNERS’
PERFORMANCE EVERY QUARTER

Assessment in K to 12 BEP
Quarterly Assessment
• A minimum of five (5) Written Works and five (5)
Performance Tasks should be given prior to the
administration of Quarter Assessment.

• The number of items for the Quarter Assessment of each
learning area shall be as follows:

Quarterly Assessment
• The learners shall be given 60 minutes to finish the
quarter assessment in each learning area except in
Mathematics which shall be given an additional 30-
mininute extension.

Quarterly Assessment
• Quarterly Assessment may be in the form of objective
test (preferably multiple choice type for easy item
analysis), performance-based assessment, or a
combination thereof.

Option 1: 50 items objective test (multiple choice)


Option 2: 40 items objective test (multiple choice)
10 points performance-based (Letter writing)
Option 3: 50 points performance-based (Play production)
Quarterly Assessment

• The Table of Specification shall be prepared prior to the


construction of test items. The teachers shall make sure
that there should be at least three (3) test items per
competency to be tested and shall follow the suggested
format.

• The checking and analysis of Quarterly Assessments shall
be done outside the instructional time and in accordance
with DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled Instituting
Measures on Engaged Time-on-task and Ensuring
Compliance Therewith.

• In the administration of Quarterly Assessment, the school


authorities shall design a scheme that is favorable to the
leaners.
For instance, a school may opt to allocate a one-hour
vacant time in between quarter assessment of each
learning area to allow the learners to prepare and review
their lessons.
Quarterly Assessment

• A simple yet clear Lesson Plan/Log shall still be prepared


during the administration of Quarterly Assessment.

• The contents of which shall present the activities that will be


undertaken during the test administration.

• A sample lesson plan entry is attached in the Memo.
