The course of study Introduction to Linguistics is a BSED-English
major course that provides an overview of linguistics as a discipline, its
development, levels of structure, and its significance to English
language teaching.

Linguistics ?
Linguistics is a scientific study of language which includes
speech sound, signs, and written symbols for human
communication.

Theoretical Tries to determine the universal principles for studying languages and to describe the

Within traditional grammar, the syntax of a language is describes in terms of taxonomy of
the range of different type of syntactic structures found in the language. The central
assumption underpinning syntactic analysis in traditional grammar is that phrases and
sentences are built up of a series of constituents.
