The researcher defines the new and different terms used

in the study using conceptual and operational definitions
written in complete sentences and arranged
alphabetically.

In defining terms, the Conceptual Definition (the

meaning of the term as defined by authors or experts in
the field) and Operational Definition (the way the terms
is used or referred to in the study) can both be used.
Definition of Terms
 Forclarity and better understanding of the study,
the following terminologies were hereby defined:
 Absentee parents. This refer to the parents of
participants who are currently working oversees.
 Effectiveness. This refer to the degree to which the EQ
intervention Program has strengthened the emotional
competence of the participants and was measured
using Cohen’s d and case reports.
Research Method and design

 The
researcher discusses in this section the
method used as defined by an authority.
 He/ She also includes the importance of
using the method in his / her study.
Methodology
 This chapter presents the procedures which were used in
the study.
 The research procedure is presented as follows :
 Research Methods;
 Population and Sampling;
 Respondents of the study;
 Research Instrument
 Validation of Instrument;
 Data Gathering Procedures;
 Statistical Treatment of Data
Research Method / Design

The researcher integrated the qualitative and

quantitative research methods.

The information derived from the study utilizing

both research methods provided a better
perspective of the life satisfaction and career
plans of the respondents, which are very essential
for effective planning of a program for them.
Quantitative Research

 Particularlythe descriptive research

method was used in the first part of the
study to describe and interpret the life
satisfaction of the respondents.
Population and Sampling

 Population refers to the complete enumeration of

the individuals that possess the characteristics
which are of interest to the researcher for
inferential purposes.

 Sampling is a proportion of the population chosen

for the study which represents the entire
population of interest.
Respondent/Participant/Subject of the
Study
 The researcher places the well-defined population, the systematic
sampling procedure, and the total enumeration or delimited
population in terms of the percentage of samples or respondents used
in the study.
 He / She should explain very well in this part of the study the
characteristics of the respondents and the reasons why they are
chosen as respondents.
 After a thorough discussion of the number of respondents stated as
frequency and the equivalent percentage, a tabular presentation of
the distribution of respondents is presented.
Research Instrument

 The researcher discusses in this section the instrument used to gather

the necessary data to answer the specific problems posed/raised in
the study.
 He / She indicates if the instrument is a self-made instrument,
copyrighted or an adapted one.
 Clarifies in the mode of responses and the scale to be used as part of
the assessment tool and measure or provides a name to the
instrument or scale used or to be used.
