Acronis Cyber Cloud 21.03 Licensing
In March 2021 Acronis introduced a new licensing model that offers numerous new advantages to our
partners:
• Per gigabyte billing mode got:
• Cyber protection functionality
• Disaster recovery functionality
• New advanced functionality was introduced in the form of packs: Advanced Backup, Advanced
Disaster Recovery, Advanced Security, and Advanced Management
Partners can mix and match these packs on a workload level based on their clients’ needs to optimize
costs
• Fully automatic service quota acquisition and revocation based on the features of the protection
plan
• A set of essential cyber protection tools at no cost: #CyberFit Score, vulnerability assessment, anti-
ransomware protection, antivirus and anti-malware protection (no local signature-based detection),
group management of devices, remote desktop and remote assistance, hardware inventory, etc.

1. Select the customer tenant to migrate

currently using a Legacy edition,
e.g. ‘Cyber Protect Edition (per
workload)’
 Click the Enable button

3. Transition
 Check the migration result

! The system will enable all necessary advanced packs to

fulfill the same level of functionality that you had in the
source edition.

4. Service configuration
 Open Cyber Protection  Protection and see
how the migration logic distributed usage and
quotas across the offering items
 Click the Edit button if you need to enable more
offering items or modify the quotas

5. Service quotas
! The system automatically re-acquires service quotas
depending on the features of the protection plans applied
to the workloads.

 If you want to check what exact service quota(s)

were acquired for each workload:
• Open the ‘Cyber Protection Console’ by clicking
the Manage service button
• Select the required workload and open the Details
tab
 You can manually change the Acronis Cyber Protect
Cloud service quota and the necessary Advanced
packs will be re-acquired automatically.
• Open the Details tab
• Click Change in the ‘Service quota’ section
• Select the required license in the dialog form

Script for mass customer migration
There is a special script that allows you to switch editions for multiple
customers

1. Download the script and unpack it.

2. Prepare the environment:
a) Python version required: 3.6 or newer
b) ‘Requests’ is required (pip install requests)
3. Create an API client
4. In Windows command line (or macOS Terminal) navigate to the folder with the
script
5. Specify tenant ID and destination edition.
• If you provide your own partner tenant ID, the edition will be switched
for all child tenants though the hierarchy, including child tenants of sub-
partners.
• If you provide a folder ID or a customer ID, the edition will be switched
for this folder or customer.
6. Use API client’s ID and secret for authentication.
7. Execute script.
8. Log will be populated automatically.

1. Create a new customer
 Click on New and then select Customer from
the dropdown menu

2. Provide general information
 Provide general information about the customer
• Customer name
• Mode: Trial or Production
• Language
• Management mode: Self-service or Managed by the
service provider
• Security: Select Two-factor authentication, Enhanced
security mode, or both
• Create administrator: Provide details about the
administrator account (Login, Email, First name, Last
name, and Language)
 Click Next

3. Select services
 Select the services that you want to enable for the customer
 Under Cyber Protect select different functionalities:
• Protection
• File Sync and Share
• Physical Data Shipping
• Notary

! All services are enabled by default

4. Select a billing mode
 Select a billing mode for the Protection functionality:
• Per workload
• Per gigabyte
 All advanced packs are enabled by default, this is the
step when partners can select or unselect an Advanced
pack

! Partners can select only one billing mode, which will be

applied to the whole customer tenant.
! There is an information icon next to each Advanced pack
that provides details about the functionality it enables.

5. Service configuration

 Select and configure the specific service features

(offering items)
 Partners can limit the use of the selected offering
items by specifying soft and hard quotas, or
keeping them unlimited
 Click Done

Limiting ‘Legacy’ edition usage
It is possible to limit the usage of ‘Legacy’ editions in the Management Portal UI using API:
 Prohibit creation of a new customer in a ‘Legacy’ edition
 Prohibit switching of an existing customer from new licensing to a ‘Legacy’ edition

This can be managed by using the hide_legacy_editions setting on the tenant level
using API

Set the value of the hide_legacy_editions parameter to true to limit legacy edition
usage

This allows you to maintain your existing customer and partner base and disable manual
legacy edition creation through UI under the same root tenant

Switching process
The switching process includes two phases:
1. Provisioning of the new offering items to a customer tenant (offering item enablement and quota set up).
2. Usage reconcillation: assigning of the offering items to the workloads according to the features in the protection plan(s).
