PROGRAM FOR VIDEO


PRODUCTION
A movie is a rich medium of
communication used to deliver
messages to the audience.
With the emerging technologies,
one can easily them capture
videos, edit them to movies, and
publish them online.

Movies and videos use moving
images that are rich in audio
and visuals in order to tell a
story to its audience. Movies
usually take to create and
involve a large production.
Nowadays, equipment and software
are more accessible, thus easier for
anyone to create their videos.
Videos, have a wide range of types:
Educational, Promotional, Informational,
Documentary and Entertainment.

Making movies and videos involve


processes that start with a single bright
idea.

This stage involves
Pre planning on how to
production transfer our bright
idea into a movie.
A mind map is used
to elaborate the
idea, followed by
writing the script.
A storyboard is also
created, detailing the
shots, audio, and other
needs of each scene.
We use this as a guide
for the next stages and
be changed as we
move along in the
creation process.
Other preparations before filming
are also conducted here. Some of
these are schedule, budget, actors,
logistics and equipment. Below are
some of the equipment used for
movie or video production.

At this stage, all the plans and


preparations are implemented.
Scenes drawn from the storyboard
are captured. Other multimedia
elements such as audio and
pictures are gathered as well.
CAMERA SHOT
Is an essential language used to
effectively communicate visual
elements within a frame.
Example:
long shot, medium shot, close-
up, bird’s- eye view etc.
Postproduction

This stage starts with


organizing the videos
and other multimedia
elements in order to
easily retrieve them
when needed.
A movie editor is used to
create the movie while
applying editing techniques.
Distribution

This is the last stage that comprises the


storing and sharing of videos to the
audience. Using online video sharing
services is the common method to
publish works.
We can also use memory card or external
drive to store our created videos.

Read each item carefully and choose the correct
answer.

1. A (mind map, storyboard) is used to elaborate an idea.

scene in a movie.

GETTING STARTED
WITH OPENSHOT
Movie Editing Software
Is used to manipulate raw videos by
providing tools to perform editing tasks
such as covering as converting file
formats and trimming, joining and
arranging clips in sequence.
Various movie editing software are
programmed to help any video maker
enthusiasts and one of them is the
OPENSHOT
Was created to offer a user-friendly
video editor under the open-source
license. It can run in any operating
system like Windows, Mac, and
Linux. Its creation started in August
2008 by Jonathan Thomas.
OPEN OPENSHOT
Launching the OpenShot is the
same as opening any program
in our computer. We either use
any of the following options:
Double-click the OpenShot
Desktop icon on the desktop.

Click the Start button.


Start Button
Browse to letter O.
Choose OpenShoot Video Editor.

Search
Select Search Windows
Windows Type in OpenShot.
Select the program from the
result list.

1 Main Toolbar

 is located at the top area of the


windows. It shows different
buttons. New project, Open project,
Save project, Undo, Redo, Import
files, Choose profile, Fullscreen, and
Export Video.

Filter
 is used for searching media
files and transitions as well
as effects in the libraries
3 Preview Window
 provide us how our projects looks
like as we edit. The preview controls
are used to check our project. We
can also use the spacebar to play
the video or press it again to pause
it.
4 Functions Tabs
Include three tabs:
Project Files, transitions and effects.
The Project Files Tab contain all media files added in
the project.
The Transitions Tab has a library of transition effects
that can be inserted in the timeline.
The Effects Tab has a variety of options to adjust the
brightness, contrast, saturation and other special
effects.
5 EDIT TOOLBAR
 has buttons used for editing the
clips in the timeline. These buttons
include add track, snapping
enabled, razor tool, add marker,
previous marker and next marker.
6 Play-head/Ruler
 shows the timescale of our
video. It moves along as we play
the video, and we use it when
we select a portion in the raw
video.
7 Timeline
 is where we edit all the clips of
our movie. We can add, remove,
and arrange tracks. We can also
add presets by right-clicking on
our clip.
8 ZOOM SLIDER
 is used for expanding
the timescale of the
timeline.
 When we like to change the view of the
OpenShot environment, go to the Menu bar
and click the View menu. We choose Views
and select our desired view from the side
pane.
 The size of the preview
window can also be adjusted by
dragging the tiny buttons found
on its left or near the bottom
left.
Tracks and Layers
 We use tracks and layers in the timeline to edit the
video. A track contains clips that can be videos,
sounds, photos, or a combination of these. The tracks
are labeled as numbers and arranged in layers. The
lowest number track is found at the bottom and can
be seen at the background when the video is played.
