Nuan is such an interesting character to me. She only appears on page one time, but the effects of her intelligence, skill and raw talent affect the books astronomically. Not only is she a talented mechanic and inventor, who, presumably for the first time, combines machinery and magic to create an eye for Lucien, but she is also a skilled alchemist. Favored and trusted by High Lord Thesan, in the Dawn Court, considered the most technologically advanced Court in Prythian. We know so very little about her, but there is so much that we could learn.
We know she is missing an arm, and originates from the city of Xian on the continent deep into the Fae lands. Why did her family come to the Dawn Court? How did she lose her arm? Did it also have something to do with Amarantha or something long before her reign?
I also really love her and Lucien together. I think there is so much to be said for their potential relationship. We know they already have a close friendship and understand each other in ways that perhaps many others can't. They both play incredibly important roles in Court, are incredibly intelligent, and are heavily relied on. Personally, I have so much fun with coming up with backstories for Nuan and expanding on her personality.
For me, Nuan is a deep and complex person, who is very diplomatically skilled, though she prefers hands on work. She lost her arm during an attack when her family and herself were travelling to Prythian when she was young. She spent years creating a prosthetic she could feel through because she so desperately wished to return to be easily able to handle intricate projects like she used to. She can come off quite cold and reserved around those she doesn't respect or like, but warms up eagerly to those who are capable of proving themselves. She has a bright personality, though she has the ability to be incredibly sarcastic at times. Nuan loves debate, reading and working on her latest projects. She's an omnivert who can slot into any social interaction but is also just as happy working alone until he early hours of the morning, (Lucien has to pick her up and throw her into bed to stop her from staying up all night)
Those are just some of my personal thoughts, if anyone has any headcanons to add please tell them to me!!!
