A medical lab specialist and I have been working in the Turkish Friendship Hospital for four years and studying a master's degree at Al-Aqsa University but have not yet finished it.
I am married to Ibrahim who works the same profession at Al-Shifa Hospital and we were studying a master's degree together.
My story in short is that we have been out of Gaza for treatment in Egypt since July 2023, and we have done an “in vitro fertilization” to give birth after four failed operations in Gaza.
We had a very beautiful baby.
But sadly that the war happened in Gaza in October 2023 and we have been stuck in Egypt ever since without any source of income, and I don't know how to provide for my beautiful daughter's Hanan needs and how to pay for the house and the rest of life, plus our house was bombed in Gaza.

Rebuilding Lives: A Family's Struggle and Need for Support in Post-War Gaza
In the heart of Gaza, a once-thriving family now grapples with the harsh realities of war. Mohammed Alanqer, a dedicated engineer, had built a promising technology startup that was the cornerstone of his family’s livelihood. However, the war has left his business in ruins, and his family displaced, facing severe financial and health challenges.
The destruction of Mohammed's startup has stripped the family of their primary source of income. This loss is compounded by the closure of schools in Gaza, depriving their children, Layan, Sarah, and Adam, of their right to education. With the educational institutions in disarray, the children’s future remains uncertain, threatening to deepen the cycle of poverty and instability.
The war has not only affected their financial stability but also put the family's health at risk. The destruction of hospitals has left Mohammed's wife, Enas Majed, in a precarious situation, particularly during her pregnancy with their youngest child, Amir. The family also struggles with medical conditions, including their son Adam’s battle with viral hepatitis and other illnesses like measles, which have become prevalent due to the lack of proper healthcare facilities.
The family has been forced to flee their home multiple times, living in constant fear and without basic necessities such as clean clothes and adequate food. Their situation has become increasingly desperate, with the cost of escaping to a safer environment being prohibitively high. The financial burden of crossing borders, estimated at $5000 per adult and $2500 per child, is beyond their means.
Mohammed and his family urgently need support to overcome these challenges. The total estimated costs for providing education, housing, and essential needs amount to between 27,817 and 42,485 euros annually. This includes:
- Education Costs: 11,817 - 18,485 euros per year
- Housing Costs: 12,000 - 18,000 euros per year
- Basic Needs: 4,000 - 6,000 euros per year
This financial assistance would enable the family to secure a stable and safe environment, ensure the children’s return to education, and provide the necessary healthcare to overcome their current difficulties.
The story of Mohammed Alanqer’s family is a testament to the resilience and determination to survive in the face of unimaginable adversity. However, their journey cannot be completed without external support. Her daughter was doing very well in school and had dreams and wishes for her life. Yusra was working hard, you can see her work in these pictures, to create a stable life for herself and her daughter.
Yusra and Maryam are now forced to live in fear, first fleeing to Yusra's parents' home, then to multiple shelters, and being displaced to Rafah and most recently to Khan Younis. The family has been displaced four times in total, and under conditions where they have limited access to water, food, power, and internet, and while under the threat and fear of bombing and Israeli attacks.
Can you imagine living with no access to basic necessities, while being terrified that you may not see tomorrow? Knowing that your child isn't safe, but being powerless to protect her? What crime have Yusra and Maryam committed? Any human being can recognize this injustice. Let your anger move you to make a difference, and contribute to Yusra's campaign. We found temporary shelter in a classroom turned into a makeshift refuge. The walls were bare, the air thick with fear. Surrounded by other displaced families, we shared a profound sense of loss.
I lost my home—my sanctuary—now reduced to rubble. I lost my belongings and savings. But the deepest wound is the loss of hope: the hope of a future where my children could thrive free from fear.
We are caught in a cycle of survival. Food is scarce, and basic necessities are out of reach. In our overcrowded shelter, we cling to each other for comfort. The worry and fear in my family’s eyes are constant reminders of our daily struggle.
