'Piglet's Big Game'

[PS2 / NGC] [USA] [MAGAZINE] [2003]

"Pigletโ€™s Big Game is the hot topic of November. Seeing a childrenโ€™s game feature music and scenes that feel like theyโ€™re ripped straight out of the mouths of horror giants is one part terrifying and another part hysterical. Clips have been passed around, and memes have been created with Piglet taking the place of James in Silent Hill scenarios. Itโ€™s all super fun. And it legitimately makes sense why this may be horror for toddlers. Piglet is known for being afraid of everything he encounters. But right now, the most terrifying part of it all is browsing through eBay listings. Beyond the apparent horror stylings of a few of the levels, Pigletโ€™s Big Game is exactly what you expect: a childrenโ€™s game based on a classic franchise. If you were around during the PS2/Xbox/GameCube era, you know most games in this wheelhouse were nothing more than fodder to keep kids entertained for a while. Pigletโ€™s Big Game may have scored a solid 7/10 from IGN back in 2004. Itโ€™s a silly meme game, so consider saving your cash for now. The bubble is bound to burst sooner than later." ~Shaun Cichacki, Vice ("I Canโ€™t Believe I Have to Say This, but Donโ€™t Fork Over $200 or More for Pigletโ€™s Big Game", published November 14, 2024)

'Conker: Live and Reloaded'

[XBOX] [JAPAN] [MAGAZINE] [2005]

"Conker's Bad Fur Day was once released only overseas for the Nintendo 64, and became legendary (in a good way) for its blackness and vulgarity, which was nothing like its cute appearance. Now, the sequel is available on Xbox! As the subtitle suggests, the fun this time is playing against each other on Xbox Live. A total of 16 animals are fighting in an extreme battle that seems to say, "We're the best!" Let's take a look at the new scenes that have been released for the first time in about a year! The main feature of this game is the live battle with up to 16 players. Choose your favorite fighter (class) and fight with a brutality level of 120 or higher along the story and missions provided. The game will feature a variety of rules, including team battles in which players form a squad of six, and individual battles where survival is at stake. This game also includes a remake of the previous game, Conker's Bad Fur Day, as a single-player mode. Naturally, with the hardware now being Xbox, the graphics and sound have been upgraded to the point that they can be said to be completely different. It's a game that has had few opportunities to be played in Japan. This is quite a valuable piece. By the way, the original story is about a squirrel named Conker who gets drunk at a bar and gets caught up in various incidents on his way home. I'm looking forward to seeing how it's reborn with the expressive power of the Xbox!" ~Famitsu Xbox, June 2005 (Machine Translation)
