Goodbye what the fuck
buck and eddie cooking together over facetime and eddie says "i don't know how you dice the onion so small. mine always ends up kinda rough."
buck laughs. "not sure you can fix that, man. your hands are just..." he coughs slightly, looking away.
and now eddie's confused. "what's wrong with my hands?" he holds them out, examines them, but there's nothing wrong, and he looks back and...buck is blushing. oh. "what's wrong with my hands, buck?" he asks, just a hint of a smirk peeking through.
"nothing!" buck sighs. "they're just--big." and eddie's pretty sure you can't see dilated pupils over facetime, but he knows. the flush of buck's cheeks, the way his mouth is hanging open just a bit. eddie can see his tongue, just a bit.
he looks back down at his hands. yeah, okay, not the best for dicing onions. good for other things, though. maybe.
“Now that the competition is out of the way” is such a funny line because now after episodes 8x12 and 8x13 we know that even if that man and Buck did end up getting back together, he’d still be getting cucked, but this time via facetime.
next episode eddie is gonna hear buck's voice in his head telling him "you went out there to be christopher's dad" and then he is going to DAD UP
sometimes I think about the small stuff, the unassuming and quietly done stuff, especially from Eddie's side. the way Eddie holds the door open till Buck can leave when they were coming out of the locker room in s6. the foot holding down the punching setup through their conversation at the gym. looking up cases of people developing powers after lightning strikes. keeping Abby's presence a secret until Buck was risking his life. noting Buck's silence when he was discussing Chris and secrets. coming over to help him move Maddie's stuff twice in s2. keeping an eye out for Buck when they rappel down a cliff, keeping an eye out when they climb down a leaning building hit by an earthquake, knowing where Buck is in the middle of a fire every time. hosting his first dinner for Buck. coming to the bar after a rough day because Buck texted. telling Buck's parents stories about him till he came, making them realize that people love him. one agua coming right up. come here, come here. appreciate you, Buck. are you hurt. hey, Buck. it's always there in the name. it's the same in Christopher's tone. hey, Buck.
crying rn cus why is the eddie in el paso arc just showing the audience how much of eddie’s partner buck really is outside of work LMFAO like oh u think these two are just coworkers? LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER!!! he’s supporting eddie reestablishing his relationship with chris. he’s supporting eddie while he’s in hell with his parents. evan ‘words of affirmation’ buckley is the glue holding eddie diaz together in texas rn.
can’t wait for eddie back in la and having to sleep on their couch. and we get this ridiculous montage of silly injures he’s got at work because. well. he’s a 6ft man sleeping on a couch. and hen and chin look at them and ask why they don’t just share a bed. and then they have to finally address why they’ve avoided that as an option
I would just like to point out to everybody that when eddie was saying "it takes 8 hours not 7 hours and 45 minutes" the season was exactly 3/4 of the way through season 8.
For added enragement, imagine Shannon trapped with this woman for years and refusing to give up her son or her family to her.
I think the reason season 8B feels like a fanfic is because we have already imagined a hundred thousand different ways Buck and Eddie could get together. We’ve already exhausted every single possibility out there. Watching them get together in canon was always going to feel like fanfiction, because whatever scenario the writers come up with, we have already imagined a thousand times over.
I'm getting ready for my powerpoint presentation about Buddie and it made me think about Christopher.
What do we know about Christopher up until this point?
He's not afraid to ask for what he needs or to voice his unhappiness. He never was.
This is the kid that smashed a salad bowl and took an Uber to Buck's place when he didn't like the fact that his dad was dating.
This is the kid that voiced his unhappiness at not being able to spend Christmas with Buck and Eddie.
This is the kid that convinced Carla to take him to the hospital when Buck was in a coma and who replied "I don't care" when Eddie told him that children are not allowed in the ICU, knowing his dad would make it happen. And Eddie did.
He's also not afraid to ask for help. He doesn't hesitate to call Buck when he thinks his dad is in danger.
What else do we know?
He's a happy kid. He has this big toothy grin. He makes pranks with Buck to mock his dad. He keeps his positive attitude during a tsunami.
What have we seen of Christopher during season 8? He doesn't really laugh, doesn't really smile big. Sure, you could say that it's because he's a teenager and he has trauma. Of course that's a part of it.
BUT.
The "you'll be my dad again?" question is very telling. The fact that he doesn't dare tell his grandparents he doesn't want to play chess is very telling.
And when do we see him smile again? For real? When Eddie is back in the car with his bag to bring him to his place.
Knowing all of this, can we take a moment to imagine what Helena and Ramon Diaz told Chris to get him to a point where he's not confident enough to speak up for himself? What have they told him for him to question Eddie's parenthood?
