The ups and downs of associate life with a lot cute animals thrown in

my 100% brutal and honest reaction to house of sky and breath after finishing it:

that book broke my back, cured my ear infection, cleared my skin, gave me more acne, killed me with a heart attack, revived me with lightning, spit in my face, and slapped me on the ass and said "good game"

and i wouldn't have it any other way

I love getting unaccompanied minors (kids flying alone) who so clearly just. Don't want to be here lol. Sometimes I get to know a little of their story, like their parents are divorced, or a family member died and they're heading to the funeral, but usually they just don't want to talk about it and that's fine. But I always treat the flight like it's a challenge to make them smile. I offer them snacks and soda but that's never enough, that's whatever, they could get those from an airport vending machine. Chump change. So then I tell the worst jokes. Just the most embarrassing, kindergarten teacher, annoying dad jokes you can think of. And those always get a groan, or a "Seriously??" And that's my in! Now I can say "Why, what's your idea of a good joke? No, come on hotshot, make your best joke, let's see it." And they hem and they haw but of course they eventually tell me their very best joke because kids are little competitive comedy goldmines. And it's always super funny, so I laugh, and that's where they slip up. Because you know what you almost always do when your joke successfully makes someone laugh? You smile. And I'm like. Gotcha. Rookie move. Now you're going to end up having a good time in spite of yourself. I win.

Did this with an 11yo u.m. today and he said "What did the ghost say to the other ghost?" And I said "What?" "Nothing. Ghosts aren't real."

I'm literally a flight attendant, offering snacks and drinks is my job

June Reading Challenge!!

The month of May is almost over, which means the May Reading Challenge will be ending soon [x] but! that also means that the June Reading Challenge is just about to start!

June Book Categories:

  • Oldest book on your TBR
  • Book that was released within the last year
  • A book that you have borrowed or that has been gifted to you
  • Book with a mostly blue or gold cover

The June theme is weddings (created by @lawschoolruinedme) since I am in the middle of wedding planning and because there seem to be a good number of folks that are also in the middle of planning/are approaching their big day!

The same rules from last month apply again:

  1. You have to use a different book per category, AND
  2. The books have to have been read during June (this includes books that you have started/are in the middle of but you finish the book in June - including those books you may not have finished in the May challenge).

The categories are also pretty flexible - we aren’t sticklers about that.

Join us!!!

I am a gremlin and haven't been on tumblr in months and am just seeing this

Released within the last year: (assuming it means 12 months) Invisible Life of Addie Larue by Schawb

Borrowed/gifted: The Hate U Give (book exchange BUT I DONT REMEMBER WHO)

Blue: The Ex-Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Will I succeed? undetermined b/c I’m currently in the middle of reading two books lol

I hope you enjoy it! I really liked it :) we’ll see if I remember to check for the second one though because ... brain. lol

Honestly I joined this site when I was 20, and now I’m 32, so all those people who are like ‘ew what are people over 23 doing on this website? that’s gross’ need to know that ageing happens to everyone, but you still enjoy shitposting to the same blog you’ve had for years.

back in my day we called it “nightblogging” and blamed the australians

I miss blaming the Aussies for the stupid shit I posted while sleep deprived. Now I have to blame my menthol witness in a follow up post in the morning to explain I’m actually fine.
