Fun Story to Share.

I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.

Well - she got this email this morning:

The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.

Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).

Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethy’s comment.

I had a rhetoric professor in college that said she felt like "queer" is the only slur that has been fully successfully reclaimed because of the fact that "queer" is even used in an academic context (like "queer studies"). I don't believe she's queer, but she *is* black, so I can see her point -- I can't imagine taking a class called "(n-word) studies", and as a queer person myself that discussion in class was the final push I needed to be comfortable calling myself queer, because... Yeah, I *would* be totally fine taking a queer studies class, haha.

the white house is now so right wing, the GOP turtle man is by default on "our side." Trump's only response to this so far is to insinuate he's lying about the polio. Classy!

If you're gonna ban a social media app because it collects data, better ban them all, frankly. But we're not because it's free speech if AMERICAN countries do it (because they're paying our politicians).

So yeah I'm against the ban because it doesn't fix actual problems and it's clearly politically motivated.

Poor, poor Ditto...

Poor Ditto, once upon a time it was supposed to be a fun gimmick pokémon, whose silly and indistinct character design created rich opportunities for comedy in the anime... but then Game Freak introduced breeding to the franchise and the life of these creatures would never be the same again.

There's not a lot to say about Ditto's design beyond that, that's why I sang the song, it's an indistinct slime blob that can be shaped into any other pokémon you want... in more ways than one.

For as much as I love Animorphs, I’ve never actually read it in order all the way through. It was always scattered entries, whatever I could find at the library or buy at garage sales. There’s even a small handful I haven’t read at all. That’s why, for my New Year’s resolution, I plan to reread the series in its entirety. However, I know how my brain works, and I’m afraid I might lose motivation and quit too soon. That’s why, after each book, I will add to this post with, in my opinion, the most fucked-up part of the book, as well as the silliest part (because anyone who’s read these books knows that those are the two main tenets of the series). That way, I’ll have a publicly available record to hold myself accountable to if I start slacking, plus a nice thread of propaganda to hopefully suck more people in. I plan to read one mainline book a week, starting with:
