And that's it, that's those little...brave baby steps we gotta take. To try and...become whole again, try and find purpose. But you gotta move on. You gotta move on.

rebecca barnes whose brothers died within six months of each other and her bestfriendbrother three days after that and then her little sister later that year but she's her mother's daughter so she doesn't really let herself feel it because she's getting her degree because her she promised her brother she would because he wanted to so badly but couldn't because of them and all the neighbors can say is that she's so selfish for abandoning her family in the hour of their terrible tragedy and even when she marries a good honest man who loves her and wants to carry her through the loss she won't let him and she bears him a healthy young son and when the war gets her son too she's still her mother's daughter and doesn't let herself feel it and her husband who is such a simple and true man begs and screams at her to grieve with him because their son is dead but she can't because she knew from the second that her husband suggested they name him after her eldest brother may he rest in peace that one day she'd have to bury the baby in her arms
Omg im so glad I found you here by complete accident! I've been wondering for ages: in your Bucky "lapse" edit (which I come back to regularly to let it emotionally destroy me, so thank you very much) where did you take the German voiceover from? I'd love to watch that movie/TV show, and I can't for the life of me figure out where it's from😭
Oh my god, sorry, am just seeing this now. Well in any case, I'm very glad you found me, too, and thank you for the nice message! The German VO in that vid is—like most of the other German VOs I've used, lol, I oughta write the creators a thank you/apology note at this point—from Babylon Berlin. Which, by the way, is a very well done neo-noir-esque show and a great source for interwar political and personal drama and ominous (if somewhat incomprehensible) psychological fuckery, for anyone looking for that sort of thing. Very grand, very visually satisfying, very entertaining, big recommend.
I might be wrong, but I think that specific "fear" line is from season 4? Like episode 1 or 2, I believe.
Anyway, hope this is helpful a full three months later!
For those of you that may have just finished watching Cory Booker’s record-breaking senate speech and are inspired to “get in good trouble”, you have a great opportunity for it this Saturday!
On April 5th, numerous advocacy groups are banding together into one nation-wide rally that will be held in major cities all over the country - you can easily find a participating location here!
I’ll be volunteering as a safety captain at my own local rally, and I encourage all of you to go out there too and get in some good trouble as well!
for the record when I say a lot of major cities I mean a LOT of major cities :P
my primary interaction with fandom right now is through music/edits bc i can't write for fun which is great which also means i have created an elaborate setup of four character playlists (steve, bucky, sam, nat) that i put in chronological order and divided into eras and they all have a story that exists only to me and also they all connect to each other and i've been in fandom for 10+ years but this is probably the second craziest fannish thing i've ever done. and i just had to put this out into the world.
ok I will link these for people that are into this sorta thing. they're not like super complete bc things are always shifting but I'm happy with where they are. also they're supposed to be in a custom order but idk how well that carries over to other people.
Steve
Sam
Bucky
Natasha
I will literally talk about these for hours, my mutuals can attest to this I bring these playlists up like I'm a facebook mom with a kid on the honor roll so if you have thoughts or prayers or you want a detailed paragraph why a certain song is there I will tell you !

it has to have been said before but once again I'm thinking about how stevebucky only works if before you even get to the whole grand "following each other into hell" thing or the "separated by death itself over and over" thing or the "character mirrors with strange, painful and extremely specific shared life experience" thing you understand that those two were already fucking weird and codependent to begin with
to be very clear this does NOT mean a) bucky being steve's caretaker TM nor b) that they were each other's only friend/focus by any means. just that they were at least as weird as any relationship where you grow up in each others' pockets and weirdly in sync + admire/envy each other + fall in love. and then some

I want to try so many little hobbies. Candle making, soap making, basket weaving, wood carving, book binding, baking, weaving, I want to try them all.
I almost made a post about this the other day (unless i actually did and totally forgot) but there’s so many
I was going to make a list, but then i realized this is a good time to share this book
Making Stuff and Doing things is a whole collection of old punk DIY zines about making and doing just about anything, even things you probably never knew you wanted to do.
Book binding? In there.
Making bowls from old vinyl records? I made a whole ton for my brother’s grad party last year.
Basics of guitar? Making rubber stamps? Silk screening? Composting? Homemade beer, root beer, and wine? Soymilk?? Quill pens??? All in there.
Since it’s more punk, it doesn’t have a ton of the folksy, cottage vibes/hobbies, but it’s all about being resourceful and sustainable, which they both have in common.
If i ever need to do anything I’m not sure of, I double check this book to see if there’s anything in there. It’s one of the only books on diy I’ve ever needed.
You can download the entire book as a PDF in the link above.
