chim and maddie get buck a "kiss the cook" apron while eddie's still in texas. they say it's an early birthday present, whatever, it doesn't matter. buck kinda rolls his eyes at it because who's kissing him nowadays, but he's pleased to have more aprons in his collection. and oh, eddie comes back! and that's fine. it's great, actually, but now they're living together, and buck is spending a lot of time not thinking about stuff. eddie's driving him fucking crazy, is the thing. he keeps just Being there. and getting out of the shower with his hair all wet and a towel around his hips, and can't he see he's dripping water all over the floor and it's fucking hazardous, eddie, can't you see you're a hazard?? but it's fine. and buck is in the kitchen one day, apron on, keeping his eyes on his cutting board, he's being SO good. and eddie sidles up to him (too fucking close, doesn't he see the sharp knife??), and he leans a hip against the counter to see what buck is doing. and he reads the apron, and smiles, and wraps an arm around buck's waist to keep him steady while he presses a kiss to buck's cheek.

and btw what’s not clicking is Eddie was literally JUST the focus of the last episode and we know he’s coming back next ep soooo come on it’s an ensemble show it’s about time we get stories of the other characters

i think it’s just that at the end of the day, eddie diaz kinda sorta completes the 118. and he has since he stepped foot into that station in 2x01. they are a unit and none of them should ever be separated. so seeing them all involved in a big emergency and even having maddie on the line for all of it/athena taking point with buck… it’s like, there was a void space in that room meant for him. he just shouldn’t still be in el paso is all.
