I'm only tied to this shitty world by my passions. Ask me about my 5000 OCs He/They. I drew my own icon  and sidebar.

the most annoying people are people who don't understand storytelling. they be like "oooo how convenient that this thing happened to the main character in the very beginning". yeah no shit. that's why the story begins here

"If this one things hadn't happened the main character wouldn't be so important" You mean the catalyst? If the catalyst of the plot didn't happen the plot wouldn't happen? Dude, that's fucking crazy. No, seriously, it's so crazy that in the book "What Happens After The Catalyst" the catalyst is the only reason the story takes place.

*showing visible symptoms* oh my god i need help desperately

*symptoms go away for one day* what if im just faking it

As a reminder if you're wondering why Gundam has so many weird names for people and things, this is why.

At that point I think I too would name a character Quattro Bajeena

Hey kid you want a job?

Great get online and go to a job board. Indeed, Linkedin whatever. Now you're gonna search for a role that's in your city, fits your qualifications, and doesn't seem like a bad time.

See that easy apply button? Don't hit it they just throw those in the trash. Now you're gonna want to go to the company's website and check their careers page.

Oh? That job doesn't exist anymore. Cool go back to the job board and find another one.

Great you found another job, you're on the company's career page and the job exists!! So you're going to need to make an account on the career page website. They're using Workday, the same site as the last job you applied for? Who cares? You need to make another account for THIS job's workday page.

Now you're going to upload your resume. That'll autopopulate about 15 boxes with everything on your resume, except formatted wrong and with tons of errors. So just go through and painstakingly check the dates on all of that and rewrite everything you already laid out in an aesthetically pleasing format on your resume.

Ok time for the cover letter, explain why this specific job and company are deeply important to you. You love their mission statement and wouldn't even laugh if their ceo was gunned down in the street. You'll really want to reiterate the things you just spent the last 20 minutes filling out on the resume section

(Remember to include language from the job description, people who work in HR are lower than dogs and they need patterns or they get confused.) Write about a page, but hey don't sound too desperate or robotic this is where they judge your character!

Maybe add your portfolio site at the end here, who knows if that helps no one has ever clicked mine haha.

Anywayyy time to hit apply! Congrats! You'll see that confirmation email come in and you should be getting the rejection letter in about 2 weeks. Unfortunately your resume didn't have the right buzzwords and the AI auto rejected you :(

Time to start again and try not to kill yourself!

Listen to me

Listen very closely

The above is exactly why half of my friends come to me, and cry they're suffering, and I get to bestow my job hunting knowledge on them. I love this shit, it's a game.

For credentials my fastest job hunting time has been 1 week. I searched for 1 week, got an interview, and was hired within a week. My slowest was 1 month, while out of work, while telling ALL my interviewers that I quit my work without notice (I was testing my interviewers to see how shocked they'd get when I'd tell them why, anyone who wasn't shocked I would tell them at the end that I will keep them in mind (not)). My entire average is 2-3 weeks.

Firstly, what you're gunna do is pick a job sector. You're gunna pick a few of these by the end, but for now pick one. Maybe you wanna do bookkeeping, maybe you wanna do something in doggy daycare. Maybe you're a sous chef. Idk! Figure out what abouts you want first. Do not apply to anything yet. You're gunna look at the job description, I've picked out a few for bookkeepers below.

Now what you're gunna do is you're gunna look for "buzz words", or rather words that are gunna appear commonly and indicate the tone for that job. I've highlighted some, but not all in my examples below

Just look at that snout at how similar those descriptions are!

Now that you've got your buzzwords, you're gunna slap those babies into your resume! You see, since your resume is usually read by a computer first, you're gunna trick the computer into giving it to a person. Really what the computer is scanning for is how similar your resume is to the job description. Remember your bullet points, and to keep it short, try to only have 3 to 5 bullet points per job:

- Processed over 500 invoices a day in an efficient and accurate manner

- Curated reports for management review by utilizing available data

- Monitored and recorded over 100 submissions each day increasing accuracy by 50%

These are some great, made up examples I pulled from those buzz words. You might notice I added some numbers into there. That's something you'll wanna try and note for yourself, how much of something you can do, how accurate, how much efficiency you increased, these look GREAT when your resume gets past the computer and is moved in front of a real person.

Now you have your sector-based resume with lots of buzzwords. This is great! Now for the easy part. You're gunna channel your inner "IDGAF" And you're gunna send that to every listing you like on indeed. Filter for "Apply on Indeed" and spam that shit. Sometimes you gotta answer a few extra questions, but if they give me more than 5 quick questions I trash the submission and move on.

Don't waste your time jumping through hoops, streamline it for yourself and use the same methods companies are using. Push MASSIVE amounts of average quality resumes out. The more opportunities taken = the greater the chance of success. For every opportunity taken you've now pitched a chance of success, for every resume you cannot submit because you're piddling around on their stupid website or answering 50 interview questions online, you send out a 0% chance of success.

So go, try this, and see how it works for you.

Some additional things to consider:

- Add random shit in your resume, I added my "Board Game Club" (BDSM group) into my resume for hobbies and discussed how I got my start using sparklines there

- Never underestimate the flair of a little Clipart fleur-de-lis or something on your resume. Never put colored Clipart, but a little floral or swirl design located somewhere nice makes it stand out

- if you don't have a degree that doesn't mean they won't pick you, twice now I've come to a job without a bachelors and being honest that I was only getting an associates before I think of my next steps

- Embellish, do not lie. Jargoning your job description to make it sound cool and professional is GREAT. Do not give me a resume saying you can use CNC machinery when you've only used a 3D printer. Just tell me you know how to program and manage a 3d printer and want to learn CNC machinery.

- Keep. Your. Resume. To. Two. Or. Less. Pages. You don't need EVERY job, only the relevant ones, if your interviewer asks about the gap, tell them what job you had during that time (or if you wanna lie say you were taking college courses and were on a break, you dont need a degree to say you took courses) and that you only wanted to showcase the most relevant ones

- I'm serious on that last one I'll eat your fucking resume

tbh I really dislike how aphobia tends to be discussed whenever there's some kind of incident that makes it visible to general society. The most common response seems to be some variation of "why would anyone hate asexual/aromantic people, they aren't even doing anything" and it just always sits wrong with me. It paints such a passive picture of our existence and feels like a comment influenced by the level of invisibility that aspec people have in society. Why would you be annoyed by someone who is practically invisible? Just go back to ignoring their existence, it's easy!

But despite the invisibility, aspec people are actually doing quite a lot of things that will piss off queerphobic, right-wing and religious people (and hell, even left-wing people). And the most obvious point is that we are actively not performing heterosexuality the way they want us to. People who's entire world view is "cis men and women should be in monogamous, heterosexual marriage and have (white) babies" are not going to lean back and say "oh but those asexuals and aromantics are fine". They will also hate our guts, and they will come up with all sorts of reasons, including insinuating we're all secretly into bestiality, or mentally ill, or not human, or attention seeking children. It's just plain old queerphobia, and like all queerphobia, there's no inherent logic to it which you can worm your way out of by "not doing anything".

And like, there's a lot more that aspec people do which people hate. Raising awareness about amatonormativity? People feel attacked, they hate it. Asexual people having sex? Or not having sex? People hate it! Aromantic people being in (seemingly) romantic relationships? People fucking hate it! Aromantic people having sex? Ohh people hate that!!

I guess the existence of aphobia can be confusing when you haven't spent much time thinking about asexuality and aromanticism, but in the end, these are identities that aren't heteronormative and they will be hit with the same or similar bigotry as any other queer identity. I just get tired of this response after seeing it recycled for 10 years without ever seeming to go any further.

having a resting bitchface is so funny because i'll be doing something relaxing, and really enjoying myself and my face will look like this

WARNING do NOT start reading books and comics or watching movies or looking at art!!! you will start wanting to create art yourself. or god forbid. writing.

we're going to have an OLDER BROTHER summer. we will be drinking MONSTER. we will be LIFTING WEIGHTS. we will be ignoring our MOM. we will be surviving off of CHIPS and NOODLES. we will NOT be SHOWERING. we will only be putting on AXE DEODORANT. we will be bothering PRETTY WOMEN and getting REJECTED. OLDER BROTHER SUMMER !!

Of fucking course Terfamort also started attacking asexual people, and on international asexuality day no less. What a vile human being.

*celebrates Ace Day harder*

*covers myself with an ace flag so maybe I turn invisible*

Like I'm not going to lie, this scares me. I still remember 2016 Tumblr, okay? And I know how much influence this lady has.

Yeah, it's... not great. I'm not even active on Twitter anymore, I just keep the app on my phone so I don't have to deal with links opening the browser version, but seeing that first thing genuinely was giving me flashbacks to some of the shit that happened on this site a decade ago.

The sudden wave of terror was the strongest emotion I've felt in a while.

Honestly, the lady just really hates her readers. Hates all the people who bought her books. Hates them all so, so much. Not sure why, maybe she read too many Dramione fanfics, or saw too many people suggesting better endings than she could write.

Anyways, I'm not too worried about her bothering aces, myself. Unlike with the trans kids she targets, there's probably not much she can do to us.

You weren't in the ace community circa 2015-2016, were you?

Hm. I was not active in the ace community around then. But I have identified as ace since 2003 or so, when I first heard the term on go-gaia.

Like, there's more than one reason why I dislike the BBC Sherlock series (and ugh that House episode, why is it that the Sherlock Holmeses of media acknowledge and disparage us at the same time), but I'm certainly not worried about Gatiss causing me injury the way that I'm worried about JKR stopping trans people from being treated as humans.

if you didn't watch how viciously the ace community was driven underground on this site, I kind of don't think you've got any room to be making this kind of what aboutism argument

yeah trans kids are in active danger. if JKR decides that she wants to target the ace kids next, they'll be in active danger too. Don't know why you're trying to gotcha about it.

I *was* here for the "discourse" but let's call it what it was.

A hate campaign. Intended to drive a wedge between groups in the LGBT+ community, which asexuality is explicitly and inherently a part of, no question, no arguments, no debates. It scared a lot of us, hurt a lot of us. Aces were threatened with and sexually assaulted. Over time, it seems a decent chunk of the community pulled their heads out of their asses once the primary bad actors realized they had a better, easier target (trans people). Don't whatabout to the threats on trans people as if they won't come for us, too. They ALREADY tried to, and *will* try again. I was literally threatened both offline and online for just visibly ID'ing as ace. Bigots will attack and do real injury to anyone and *everyone* they consider different. The trans hate just sells better on mainstream media. For now.

You see the way asshole bigots are trying to get the cis members of the LGBT+ community to turn on our trans siblings? That whole "LGB" movement? They tried that with the ace community, too, and now JK is preparing to lead the effort on it again, *because she's a Neo-Nazi now.* She hates trans people so much that she aligned herself with Neo-Nazis that want to take away all of our rights, including those of all women, cis, trans, straight, gay, white, PoC, all of us.

Don't let her win. The point of the LGBT+ community is to accept people that are different from the heteronormative, cisnormative, amatonormative, and allonormative expectations of how our society is structured. The best way to beat her and bigots like her? Don't let her or anyone else drive us apart.

I think another issue so many ace people have issues with is that no one ever really reckoned with the widespread hate campaign. And it was widespread. I have at least one friend who was threatened with being shot if they showed up to pride as an ace person.

And yet, when it finally died down, no one like. Acknowledged what had happened. They just all turned on the next target (trans people, so it's super fun to be both) and people just sort of forgot about the vitriol and hate they sent to so many people. People just went "wow that was a wild time" if they even remember it.

The ace community is not like it once was. It has never recovered. It used to be a lot sillier and more joyful, and a lot of the ace people I know now are a lot more jaded and angry. And we have a right to be.

The aphobia always been there seething under the surface because no one ever even recognized it. It was never fixed. It just quieted down for a while, and JKR is poking at a bubble of poison again.

Look, I'm ace. I'm also not cis. And this acknowledgement by this woman of ace people has my blood running cold.

Gosh yeah that's also a great point. There was this massive hate campaign that they had the audacity to call "discourse" ("I'm just asking questions") and then everyone else just... collectively memory holed it. No apologies, not even an acknowledgement that it happened other than the ace community pointing it out any time someone wonders what happened. I'm pretty sure half of my blocklist is aphobes (the other half is mostly transphobes and bots) because I developed such a kneejerk block reaction to anyone I saw being aphobic.

I'm honestly somewhat jaded to ace hate at this point; a sad statement, but it's true. I follow Yasmin Benoit on socials and her comments are always full of dipshits showing their ignorance (which has a lot of Venn diagram overlap with misogynoir but that's a TED talk for another day). So I saw her quote tweet JKR, and at first I didn't think anything of it - she's good at tanking the trolls while still getting her message across.

Then I saw who she quote tweeted, and my stomach absolutely dropped to my shoes.

Leftist infighting right now is especially not needed

The amount of name calling and finger pointing and jokes about moving to another country and how much you hate the Midwest and the south and how many of y’all know where the food bank is?

No I’m being so dead ass do you know where the food bank is? The homeless shelter? Do you know the name of the domestic violence shelter near you? Do you know your neighbors???

Last bit I’m adding to this. Whenever I start talking about community a LOT of y’all get confused thinking I mean people in your vicinity who agree with everything that you stand for. I don’t. I’m sorry. I mean your community. And I’m talking about the goals of said communities.

I originally put this in the tags, but FindHelp.org is a great place to start! It is US-based specifically tho. You put in your zip code and it'll give you information on organizations from housing to medical care to transportation to volunteering and more. It has filters so you can look for local, state, and national organizations
