They really, *really* don’t want me to buy a Switch 2.
I cannot stress how this is already most big games are on the current switch and all other consoles. The "physical game" has some or most of the game on it but it is often not playable without a release-day patch or "additional content."
Nintendo is just comitting to label its games that are like this and require that labeling from others.
This is also pro-consumer in that you can pass this game on. Game companies hate resale, but a thriving second-hand game market is good for both console makers and owners. This, as a pushback on "code-in-a-box" sales, where the code is usually single use, as a transferable ownership token, is a huge win for consumers.
