wait you understand that kinks are ok because they're fantasies that make you happy right? you all get that you don't need to have trauma for your kinks to be okay? right? like none of you think i witnessed a tragic accident on the pool toy assembly line right?

like "some people work through their personal issues with kink" was a good first step for some of the class that were struggling but i think now we're ready for "things that don't hurt anyone and make people happy are okay even if you personally think it's icky"

BECAUSE ROUGE THE BAT DRAWN AS WIDE AS SHE IS TALL WITH TITS TO MATCH KILLED MY GRANDMA, OKAY?

I love grindr images like this, they're so awesome sauced

They're squeans I'm pretty sure! If they pop like that anyway. But the term for this kind of "symbol to refer to the general vibe of something in art" is called "Emanata" because it emanates from a person or object.

[First image shows a bunch of dots, circles, and starlike shapes.

Second shows a page on how to draw comics. Various shapes that can fit into text balloons are labeled across the top.

  • round and square spirals are called 'jarns'
  • moons and planets are called 'quimps'
  • various styles of stars and asterisks are called 'nittles'
  • and wiggly lines of illegible handwriting are called 'grawlixes'

We see Sergeant Snorkel from the comic Beetle Bailey yelling at us.

  • a mix of all 4 sets of characters is labeled 'normal cussing'
  • just the grawlixes is labeled 'A variation using obstensibly obliterated epithets.'
  • and a black bar with 'censored' over it is labeled 'World War II style is becoming obsolete with today's relaxed taboos.'

The final image starts with the text, 'Other emanata reveal internal conditions.'

A man with three centreless asterisks above his head is labeled 'Man with sqeans - slightly drunk.'

A man with tongue out, lidded eyes, two centreless asterisks, and a tornadolike spiral above his head, is labeled 'Man with sqeans and a spurl - loaded!'

A man with cross-shaped eyes, two centreless asterisks, a tornadolike spiral, AND a bird with musical notes above his head, is labeled 'Squeans, spurl, crottle eyed, surmounted by thrush - it's "never-again" time!'

End ID.]

As an aroace person I actually never had that feeling of being broken. I thought everyone was the same way and some people were just dramatic ๐Ÿ˜ญ

THIS IS SO FUCKING FUNNY THATS EXACTLY HOW I FELT WATCHING ATTACK OF THE CLONES FOR THE FIRST TIME LMAOOOOO ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

i think what ppl who don't like cats do not understand is a cat will scuffle with u even if it likes u. sometimes more. a cat biting you or kicking you isn't because they hate u its because they are little predator animals and they like to play. they're also 2 feet tall and don't have hands and their mouth is the only thing they can Get Stuff with and it's full of tiny razor teeth. not their fault!!

cats absolutely try to get stuff with their lil paws to be fair. they love trying to hold stuff. itโ€™s just those Also have tiny razor claws.

Someone has probably already asked you this but do you have any tips on studying/understanding perspective? I keep trying to find resources to learn but none of them really stick or are actually useful

so I'm hoping that your issue isn't just figuring out the difference between 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point perspective and how it works, because there are tons and tons of resources available for that, and I'm guessing what people tend to get tripped up on is what you're supposed to be doing with your grid.

I'm definitely far from being an expert on understanding perspective, but I'll share some of the things that helped ME finally Get It.

Things like eye level and different camera angles can be a GREAT tool to use when doing a comic or storyboard between multiple characters of different heights!! I actually drew an example of this exact thing for a friend about a month ago (I used adventure time characters bc they're easy to draw and have a good height variety):

You can use camera angles like this to add variety to your shots, and even use it to help convey something emotional (using a down-shot on a character to show that they FEEL small, use an up-shot on a character to make them look more intimidating, etc etc)

hope this helps!

Anonymous asked:

do you have any speedpaints or process steps? obsessed with ur artstyle and the way you use shape n color

no speedpaints unfortunately, but my process looks something like this:

  1. sketch & toning canvas, i try to have some hue variations. the tone doesn't dictate the local color of the subject but is more of a guide to the general brightness (value) of the subject and the warmth/coolness
  2. essentially working from back to front, I like carving out the subject's edges first to determine if the shape is appealing, and also so I know what (often) my darkest or lightest value will be
  3. blocking in basic colors, and carving out shadow shapes
  4. rendering details & blending modes to finish :)

i take a lot of insp from other artists ofc, when it comes to portraits, yuming li is a big one
