i feel like the youth should be reminded that the point of shipping is not for a ship to become canon. the point of shipping is to collect all the canon crumbs like starved mice, run away cackling and make some fun little scenarios with them just for the hell of it.

I vote we stop calling it inflation at all. Seize the language. It's price gouging, not inflation. Inflation is a nebulous concept that invokes feeling of being too complex for the layman, a struggle as old as economy itself against a beast no one has ever truly slain.

Price gouging is the truth of it. And it makes it very clear who is to blame, and what must be done to end it.

Can confirm this works wonders. Australia is in a cost of living crisis rn and the two major supermarkets are a big part of it, as they pretty much have a duopoly on not just the grocery shopping market, but a bunch of others considered to be essential (things like fuel). They are trying to blame their price rises on inflation, but the media recently started reporting it as price gouging (which it is), and it got the average person pretty worked up, better than blaming inflation did.

It's price gouging, not inflation.

can we reintroduce “disturbing” back into the popular lexicon in place of most uses of “traumatizing”

“This experience puts me in a worse mental state and my well-being will be compromised…”

  • Discomfort: “…until the stimulus is removed; there’s a chance I will have forgotten about this experience by tomorrow” (“I got rained on, I need a hot shower”)
  • Distress: “…for the rest of the day, but probably no more than a week; I may require some level of care and social support to make it more bearable” (“I had to sleep in the freezing rain without shelter, I might need to take a few days off work”)
  • Trauma: “…for months or years, potentially forever; this experience may have fundamentally changed part of who I am and I will need to dedicate time and resources towards recovery and healing” (“I lost some toes to frostbite and every time I see my feet I am reminded of the time I thought I would die”)

• Annoyance: "...not really, I just don't like it and will sort it out as soon as I can." ("It was raining and while I'm wearing a good raincoat I got some water droplets on my glasses.")

A new national day of protest is set to sweep across all 50 states on Saturday, April 5, with demonstrations organized under the banner "Hands Off" targeting threats to democracy, bodily autonomy, and climate justice. Organizers say the protests are a direct response to figures like President Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk, accusing them of undermining key democratic principles and freedoms.

"Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them. They’re grabbing everything they can, and it’s up to us to push back. On April 5th, we’ll take to the streets with a clear message: Hands off!" ~ ThirdAct.org

A map published by the event's website, HandsOff2025.com, shows protests stretching from Anchorage, Alaska, to Miami, Florida. Some of the largest gatherings are expected in cities like Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and Philadelphia, while smaller events are planned for college campuses and public squares nationwide.

"Across the country, grassroots activists, workers, community leaders and everyday people are coming together to say that it's time for billionaires and extreme lawmakers to take their hands off our healthcare, our wages, our safety, and our rights," the spokesperson said. "Trump and his billionaire allies are openly planning a power grab to roll back our rights, strip workers of protections, and dismantle the foundations of democracy in service of tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations. The stakes couldn't be higher."

you've all gotta stop acting like "overweight" is a gentle PC alternative for the word fat and not itself an assertion of the ontological wrongness of being large. Over What Weight Precisely

and it feels very much like a product of this thing where the majority of people cannot ever conceptualize fatphobia or fat politics as legitimate or really anything beyond a meanness/bullying issue that can be solved with a couple language tweaks and one plus size runway show a year. it's great that you know not to be actively vitriolic towards fat people, but if you're still calling us "overweight" and talking about the ""obesity epidemic"" and justifying our presence in the world only through the fact that losing weight and keeping it off is difficult so we should really be pitied instead of hated, you're still moralizing around our bodies and positing them as a problem!

We literally cannot let them start charging 80 dollars for video games 70 dollars was already outrageous 60 was pushing it. 80 fucking dollars. ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR DAMN MIND. For MARIO?!?!?!?!?

If we don’t buy it, they’ll lower the price, just like the 3DS. They make more money from 2 million people buying it at $60 than 1 million at $80

DON'T BUY MARIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
