hi guys.. i wasn’t gonna do this but it looks like i have to at this point. i found out at a recent vet check-up that both of my cats have medical conditions that they’re now on medications for. templar has asthma and a heart murmur and emmie has behavioral stress and a uti. i anticipated the cost of the check up but i was blindsided by the medications, tests, scans, and labs. all in all the whole shebang costed me about $450. im moving away from my shitty roommate in july and really needed that money to help pay for the initial costs of my new apartment.

“True.” She glanced at the others. “You can also end with a period if you include an action between two separate statements.”

Things I didn’t know

“And–” she waved a pen as though to underline her statement–“if you’re interrupting a sentence with an action, you need to type two hyphens to make an en-dash.”

You guys have no idea how many students in my advanced fiction workshop didn’t know any of this when writing their stories.

Okay, but someone please explain question marks when followed by a dialogue tag. How do?

“The speech tag is still part of the previous sentence,” she explained, ‘so it isn’t capitalised.“

“What do you mean?” he asked. “But there’s a full stop as part of the question mark!”

She nodded gravely. “I know!” she said. “A lot of people find this confusing. But the speech tag belongs to the line of dialogue, it’s still part of the sentence, so it’s wrong to capitalise it.”

hi guys so recently i have been really worried about getting kidnapped or attacked in my area after a situation that took place in london a few days ago. a man grabbed an eleven year old girl on her way to school and tried to force her to suck his dick. another girl came out of her house and saw the girl who probably looked frightened and uncomfortable and went home to grab her mum and sister who rushed out and helped straight away. the news was spread on social media and the man was arrested and caught the same very day, thank god!

basically im here to try and ease young people about situations like this, especially girls who might be targetted by men and pedophiles. kidnapping and rape are — of course — very frightening situations and unfortunately, young girls in society have to be more aware of these things than boys. but that doesn’t mean you have to live your life in fear, you shouldn’t have to. hopefully these tips can allow you to few more safe going outside and help you to enjoy going out, knowing that you can help yourself while outside too!

The fact that a person who can’t hear is able to learn the mouth formations to make certain sounds is beyond what most able-bodied conquer in their first 50 years. It’s harder than learning any foreign language and yet people have the audacity to try and make fun of their voices. It enrages me. idc what anyone says, deaf voices will forever be superior to any foreign language I ever hear.

Guys, there’s something I’m a bit concerned about. Recently (as in, ten minutes ago), I found out that there is this website called Tumgir that has all of my Tumblr posts and blog on it. I don’t think it’s an extension of or owned by Tumblr. Apparently there’s also another one called Tumbral that does the same thing?

I’m not sure why my stuff is on there, since I’ve never visited these websites in my life, but I just wanted to raise this point. I’m concerned that my posts can be found there quite possibly even after I delete them. (To be honest, I don’t even want to click on the website since I don’t trust it. A lot of the info comes from this post about this same issue, and those who reblogged with the same issue as well. I’ll be reblogging this post to share with you as well.)

@staff it would be very helpful if you could also weigh in, just to be sure if this is indeed a Tumblr thing or if these websites are acting on their own?

It’s just really strange and I wanted to get it out there for my writeblr friends and other followers in case you’ve ever shared something and don’t want it automatically re-posted to another website.

If I’ve got something wrong and this is a normal extension of Tumblr, please let me know, but I don’t think it is…

Update: Apparently it has worked for a lot of people to turn on the two “Hide this blog” features in your settings, you should be able to prevent any further posts of yours going on any of these websites.

Also, there is a third website called “Tumbex” that is also pretty much the same as Tumgir and Tumbral.

I still don’t know how to go about reporting/taking down what’s already on there (especially since some Tumblr users have reported that their contact emails are apparently fake), but I’m trying to figure it out and would appreciate all the help I can get. If you find something out, please do share!

They’re super suspicious and it’s better to deal with them from outside. (And besides, any reporting mechanisms that they feature on their websites seem to be unhelpful.)

Yep, also, a recent reblog reminded me: this is not only an issue for writeblrs (my main just so happens to be a writeblr and my community is all writers, so I tend to default to that). This affects ALL tumblrs and it would be better to be safe and keep things secure so please do take the necessary steps.

Also, I understand that this can be anxiety inducing and scary for many, but please just take a breath and focus on what you can do for now. It’s not your fault that this has happened, but for now it’s a good thing to prevent it from happening any further.

Please don’t enter the sites or click on anything in them, just change your privacy settings and, if you feel up for it (because I know this can also be nervewracking) report the sites through Chrome/Firefox’s reporting portals.

I’ll update with any new info I learn, but until then this is what we can do.

I did a cursory search and while I haven’t found much of my stuff on these websites. I think I found a copied profile of mine (with no posts) and some posts tagging me, but I have yet to find any of my personal content. Please let me know if you see something of mine on these other sites! As a reminder: As of July 23rd, 2020, I only post my content on Tumblr.

I would highly recommend everyone checking themselves out, and maybe checking for some of your mutuals and friends as well — please spread the word, this is incredibly important! @hyba has outlined a ton of really helpful information so reading through this post in its entirety is really important.

Don’t click on these websites! Don’t give them any traffic, and be cautious because it’s possible that they have malware.

In light of this information, I’d just like to remind everyone to be careful with what you share online! If websites are truly stealing content from our blogs and we aren’t able to delete it, we need to be really careful to not reveal too much about ourselves so that we don’t compromise our safety.

I found both @celibate-sapphic-support and @strawberry-sakura-sickness on one of these websites, and those are the two blogs where I’m most likely to overshare and then delete stuff once I come to my senses, so that’s concerning. It looks like the page for the latter blog still displays my old bio, so this sketchy website may very well have the old vent posts that I deleted all at once for privacy reasons 🙃🙃🙃 I’m hiding all my blogs now.

So I checked out the site today on my phone. Got a ton of pop ups, including an ad for Oxycontin. I’m pretty sure they have every single blog on Tumblr. It’s just an alternative browsing site for tumblr filled with sketchy ads.

You’re a female with a deep traditionally “masculine” voice? Literally everyone is gay for you. Even the straights.

On the flip side, you’re a male with a higher pitched “feminine” voice? Everyone loves hearing you talk, and you probably have a heavenly voice as well. Also they’re very gay for you as well.

Chubby cheeks that you’re insecure about? You have no idea how badly your fans want to squish them because you! Are! So! Darn! Cute!

Your two front teeth are crooked or spaced out slightly? Everyone thought that you were so cute, they started crying?

Weird laugh? Everyone loves how unique it sounds.

These are all examples I’ve seen in Kpop fandoms of stans complimenting these aspects of idols appearances. It can be a bit discouraging to see these beautiful people and compare yourself to them. Just remember that there is no single form of beauty, a lot of your idols also have body “imperfections” like the ones I described, and it’s okay to believe that you’re pretty.

And I think that you are very pretty as well. :)

Sometimes you just have to imagine yourself with a fanbase of loyal fans who find every aspect of you beautiful.
