I created this art as a gift for my friend Diya. This is his son, Magdy and his cat whose story I shared here.

Right now, Diya is separated from his family in Gaza and has been for over a year. His family is facing the second winter since they were displaced from their home. The winters in Gaza are harsh. People are taking shelter in flimsy tents, that don't protect them from the wind and rain. The rain brings with it flooding that destroys everything. Diseases are spreading with no access to proper sanitation and medical care. When they went to receive polio vaccinations, they witnessed an IOF attack on the taxi in front of them.

The last donation was 6 hours ago, and there have only been 4 donations in the 24 hours. We need to help Diya reach his short-term goal of 30% so he can help his family purchase winter supplies that they need to survive. It is already November. There is literally no time to waste. I will rewrite my story again. I hope you read it carefully and help if you can.

I am Abdullah Musa, I am 20 years old. I am still a young man. I do not have any job and I cannot get money. It is unfortunate to ask for money in this way, but that is life.

The campaign started after hesitation and deep thinking, but I saw myself forced to do this campaign for several reasons. The first and most important reason is to evacuate from war, fear, and the terrifying sounds of bombs and planes, to escape from living in a tent, to escape from fear. I want a life in which there are only the basics (water, food, electricity, internet, and safety).

The second goal, which is very important to me, is to study medicine and complete my dream that I had since childhood. I had started my first year of university and I was planning my future and dreams, but everything went away when the war came and destroyed my university. Yesterday, I started studying in Egypt and my friend sent me a picture from the beginning of the school year. It was a sad feeling.

This is a picture of me when I was a kid and my dreams were there.

This video I filmed for children my prathar while they were playing in one of the amusement parks in Gaza. I was looking at them and I was happy because they were happy, as if I had everything when I saw my children playing and laughing. But when the war happened, I almost felt helpless because I was unable to provide them with safety That's when our house was bombed and we lost many of my family members. I, my children, and the rest of the family miraculously survived. Then I was struck by a feeling of fear and helplessness. where I go ? Where can I find a safe place for me and my children?

I run from one place to another and there is hardly any safe place So as not to be too long for you, words are too small to describe this feeling as you see your children living in a bitter reality where there are no necessities for a normal life.

For those unaware, the blog "gazavetters" which claimed to be run by legitimate Gazans on the ground and was verifying Gazan fundraisers, has been purged and a vague message was left on the blog seemingly discrediting vetting as a whole.

Myself and the team in @gaza-evacuation-funds are not associated with them and we never have been.

Their message is too vague to say what the actual intent behind it is, as it is written by ESL speakers. It seems to be criticizing the vetting practice rather than the fundraisers themselves but zionists will hear what they want to hear. The message is currently being co-opted by the racist and cruel "all Gazans are scammers" gang because of the vague nature of the message. Do Not be drawn in by that or fall into their racist trap.

Unfortunately it is hard to say the damage this vague message has done to many possibly legitimate fundraisers on the gazavetters list, as their legitimacy is now up in the air, in addition to every other gazan on tumblr fundraising for their families.

Though we are incredibly disappointed and puzzled by how things have been handled by gazavetters, we are investigating what happened there because we are commited to legitimate gazan fundraisers and deserving people continuing to get the support that they need.

Regardless of our findings, it is a reality that we may not be able to re-verify every single family on their list. And all we can offer is to try and shed more light on the situation. And unfortunate as it is that many families' legitimacy was harmed, we can't be held responsible for the actions of others.

Please avoid reblogging fundraisers vetted by gazavetters for the time being until we are able to confirm whether we can still consider these fundraisers as legitimate.

Since it was suggested by @/killy I'd like to try to provide a more accurate translation of the post (though the message is still quite vague even in the original Arabic)

Not much is different than the translation provided and unfortunately I have no way of contacting the person behind the blog. The tone in Arabic feels more directed at Gazans and is more personable and sympathetic, whereas in the provided English translation, it does feel like there is a dissatisfaction with the foreigners it's addressing.

What I will say, is that there is nothing here that indicates Gazan fundraisers are scams. Quite the opposite, the author has implied that they themselves are in fact in Gaza and feel for the plight of the people who were failed by this message that has been made. And they seem to be warning Gazans against people taking advantage of them for clout and clicks.

I think what's being criticized are the tactics Gazans and the people supporting them have had to use to get attention to their fundraisers, where the author feels that people may be sacrificing their dignity for the benefits of foreigners on this app. And IMO there's not really an easy solution for this.

(Again I cannot get in touch right now with the author to know more but whenever we do know more, I'll be sure to shed more light on the situation)
