“cory booker is not actually accomplishing anything” I need you to stop being a pessimistic hag every second of ur life. u can be disillusioned. u can wish there was more done already. but this is SOMETHING!! he has broken the longest senate speech record and has been standing up for americans (and against a fascist racist oligarchy) for over 25 hours straight. hundreds of millions have and are watching him. HE is the news cycle. he is reading democratic and republican testimonies alike. people are hearing him, whether they chose to or are forced to!!!!!!! will it solve all our problems? no. but it is a Spark that will hopefully catch flame

Also, let's not forget, the record Senator Booker broke was that of Strom Thurmond in 1957, who was trying to filibuster the passage of the Civil Rights Act. A worthwhile historical moment in and of itself to beat that out

so as you might have guessed because I said I was camping in the woods to avoid getting sick (lol):

someone in my household has covid unfortunately but we did manage to get them a Paxlovid subscription. they’re uninsured, and even GoodRx coupons only brought the cost down to $1,300 USD.

I thought to check the drug manufacturer website and quickly signed up online through its portal and received a pharmacy card by email that lowered the cost to $0

There are also options for insured patients to dramatically lower their copays. I’m in the U.S., and I’m unsure whether this is applicable elsewhere, but I wanted to share this info on access to potentially lifesaving medication, for anyone it may help!

Mordred: I'm not a green thumb sort.

Mordred in every farming sim I've recycled him in (all of them), the first night he sat down eating dinner he cooked for himself using ingredients he grew with his own hands: *crying like Shinji Evangelion* Life is beautiful. I've missed out on so fucking much, just stressing myself out over my day to day.

Cory Booker has been talking in the senate for over 20 hours now

He’s not filibustering. He’s protesting the current administration.

For those of you from outside the US or those of you who didn’t pay attention in government class, in the US senate there’s really no limit to the amount of time a senator can speak. So sometimes if they don’t want a bill to pass they just. Don’t stop talking. To hopefully get past the deadline to vote on a bill. This is called filibustering.

Senator Cory Booker isn’t doing that. He’s disrupting “the normal business of the United States Senate for as long as I am physically able”. Just in protest. This doesn’t usually happen.

He’s less than 20 minutes away from breaking the record of the longest speech given on the senate floor

Cory Booker has officially broken Strom Thurmond’s record for longest speech on the senate floor and he’s still going

For those of you wondering what he’s been talking about this whole time, his staff wrote down a bunch of stuff for him to read like stories from people across the political spectrum opposed to what the administration is doing. He’s also been telling personal anecdotes about meeting important civil rights leaders and other democratic senators have been pausing him for “questions” but the questions have been as long as a small speech and have both served the purpose of giving him a second to sit down and updating him on the news that he’s been missing while he’s been talking.

He has yielded the floor at 25 hrs and 4 mins. His eyes are so wide they look like they’re going to bug out of his skull so I don’t blame him for stopping. He said to go out and get in some good trouble.

a long time ago i watched a tik tok from an older trans woman, in her 60’s or 70’s. someone had commented on another video of hers asking “why don’t we ever see trans men from your generation? why aren’t they involved in activism?” and her response was “because a lot of them died.” she told stories abt the trans men she knew who committed suicide rather than be married off and forced to live as a woman, or died from medical neglect or botched abortions. “they would be here if they could, but they can’t because the world failed them.”

I highly suggest folks check out the Digital Transgender Archive. There are plenty of artifacts there that will help you to learn about the history of transgender men, and there are also a number of Lou Sullivan's letters/writings/etc.

I cried the first time I discovered this resource.

People with low spoons, someone just recommended this cookbook to me, so I thought I’d pass it on.

I always look at cookbooks for people who have no energy/time to do elaborate meal preparations, and roll my eyes. Like, you want me to stay on my feet for long enough to prepare 15 different ingredients from scratch, and use 5 different pots and pans, when I have chronic fatigue and no dishwasher?

These people seem to get it, though. It’s very simple in places. It’s basically the cookbook for people who think, ‘I’m really bored of those same five low-spoons meals I eat, but I can’t think of anything else to cook that won’t exhaust me’. And it’s free!

SPREAD THE WORD THIS IS FUCKING GOD TIER OH MY GOD, SOMETIMES I HAVE SPOONS SOMETIMES I DON’T BUT NO COOKBOOK OFFERS LEVELS IN THEIR RECIPES THIS ONE DOES!

some of you think ‘nuanced’ only means ‘morally grey’ and I’m here to tell you that actually straight up good characters can still be nuanced and unapologetically evil characters can still be nuanced. the character doesn’t have to be an anti hero or morally dubious to have depth. they don’t even have to feel sorry about their crimes to have depth.
