These are various masterlists that we have assembled to help both our readers and our moderators find the answers to our more frequently asked questions.  While we don’t necessarily agree with the subject of every list, we are trying to be as comprehensive as possible.

Lists will be added as needed.

If you as an author feel that your fic does not belong on a list that it is currently on, please let us know and we will be happy to remove it.  If you feel that your fic (or someone else’s) does belong on a list, let us know and we will be happy to add it as long as its removal has not been specifically requested.

Hi, all! We’re hoping you can help us out. As you have undoubtedly noticed, many of our masterlists haven’t been updated in quite awhile. We’re hoping to rectify that, but there are a lot of lists - and a lot of stories. With such a big undertaking, it really does take a village.

So, we’ve got a big, big, big favor to ask you: if you see a fic (or a few) missing from any of these lists - they could be a story you’ve read recently, an old favorite of yours, your friend’s story, your story - please let us know. It’s most helpful if you include the title, author, and where it’s posted. If you can, send us an ask, as comments and reblogs tend to get buried in our notifications.

With everyone’s help, we can ensure that these lists are as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as possible.

Just another tip - if you would like your fics included on our Masterlists, please TAG YOUR FICS appropriately. In AO3 you can use specific tags. In FFnet, you can mention the type of fic in the summary.

The truth is, we don't read every story that is on our lists, and we can't go through every story in detail to judge which list it fits best. We update by searching tags and for specific words. So, if your story is "enemies to lovers" or "roomates" or "sharing a bed" make sure its tagged that way, and it's far more likely to be picked up by one of our searches on our next update.

Ready to listen to a collection of Hunger Games fanfiction, read by amazing members of our community? The wait is over, because the Hunger Games Valentine's Podfic Exchange has been revealed!

Go ahead and take a listen, share the love with the podficcer and the original work that are all linked with "inspired by" on the works in the collection by leaving comments and kudos 💗

I've been so excited and moved by the community's contribution to this event! People have stepped out of their comfort zones to record and edit their podfic and navigate posting to ao3 (many of the podficcers for the first time). Thank you all for your hard work!

On a less-fun note, there were a couple people who didn't upload anything and haven't responded to my messages. This means that a couple authors haven't gotten one of their works made into a podfic. If anyone is open to doing another podfic, please let me know so we can make sure everyone that signed up gets a valentine.

ONE MORE WEEK TO GO!

We are one week out to the Hunger Games Valentine's Podfic Exchange collection going out into the world!

First, I want to say that this is going to be my first time putting together a collection on ao3, so please be patient with me.

The collection will open up the evening of February 11 (PST) and be available to add a work to at that point. I will be revealing the collection on February 14 at 6:00 am PST. No delays, no exceptions. So be sure to get your podfic in on time!

When you are posting your work, check the box that reads "This work is a remix, a translation, a podfic, or was inspired by another work" and include the url that the original fanfiction is from. See below:

To read about how to embed audio into the page on ao3, see the ao3 guide here. It seems like Internet Archive is popular to use to embed the audio. If embedding is giving you challenges, you can always use links to Google Drive, YouTube, Spotify and/or the aforementioned Internet Archive. Choose your own adventure!

You can include any additional images or messages, but I highly encourage you to prompt listeners to use the "inspired by" link to give love to the original work as well as kudos and comments on yours.

Remember, the collection is going live February 14th at 6:00 am PST. I won't be holding the collection up, so get yours up in time!

For those posting to a collection for the first time, be aware that it won't show up on ao3 until the collection is revealed. When the collection revealed, then your podfic will show up in the Hunger Games fandom tag on the date you originally posted it to the collection. So if you post to the collection on February 12, in the fandom tag your work will be all the way down at that date instead of showing up on February 14 when it goes live. You can update the fic's date to be February 14 and it will show up at that date in the other tags (i.e. relationship, character, additional tags), but not the main Hunger Games fandom tag.

Calling on all Hunger Games fanfic readers and writers!

To combat developers monetizing fanfic with AI voices, this year I'm hosting a Hunger Games Valentine's Podfic Exchange for Valentine's Day.

💌 What it is

Sign up as a podficcer and/or a fanfic author. I'll match up a podficcer to their "valentine" (a fanfic author) and set up a collection on ao3 for all of the podfic.

💌 Who can participate?

Anyone with an ao3 account can be a podficcer. Yes, even with your accent! Yes, even with just your phone to record! I promise, you're better than any AI voice because you're human.

The works getting the podfic treatment are all part of the Hunger Games/TBOSAS fandom. Any pairing or OC is ok! The only limit is that no podficcer will be expected to record for a work longer than 3k words, whether it's a one-shot or a chapter from a longer work.

💌 How?

Sign up with the google form here by January 7. We'll have podficcers and valentines matched by January 14, so keep an eye on the communication method you choose on the google form! I'll be posting some resources for free audio editing/tips to also help out. Once you have your podfic made, create a work on ao3 that is "inspired by" the original fanfiction (if it is on ao3) or link to it if it's hosted on another site, and then in the work include a link(s) to where the podfic is hosted (google drive, internet archive, spotify, youtube, etc). You will be able to submit to the ao3 collection on February 12 and the collection will go live on February 14 at 6:00 am PST.

💌 Why should I join?

Some people prefer to listen to audiobooks for a variety of reasons, including accessibility, and this helps expand their options for listening to fanfiction. It's a fun fandom-building activity. And as mentioned before, there have been a couple of attempts to monetize fanfiction with AI reading fanfic and this is a way to throw up a middle finger at this effort and give a gift to fanfiction authors.

SO HERE IS THE WHOLE STORY (SO FAR).

I am on my knees begging you to reblog this post and to stop reblogging the original ones I sent out yesterday. This is the complete account with all the most recent info; the other one is just sending people down senselessly panicked avenues that no longer lead anywhere.

IN SHORT

Cliff Weitzman, CEO of Speechify and (aspiring?) voice actor, used AI to scrape thousands of popular, finished works off AO3 to list them on his own for-profit website and in his attached app. He did this without getting any kind of permission from the authors of said work or informing AO3. Obviously.

When fandom at large was made aware of his theft and started pushing back, Weitzman issued a non-apology on the original social media posts—using 

as reasons we should allow him to continue monetizing fanwork for his own financial gain.

When we less-than-kindly refused, he took down his ‘apologies’ as well as his website (allegedly—it’s possible that our complaints to his web host, the deluge of emails he received or the unanticipated traffic brought it down, since there wasn’t any sort of official statement made about it), and when it came back up several hours later, all of the work formerly listed in the fan fiction category was no longer there. 

THE TAKEAWAYS

1. Cliff Weitzman (aka Ofek Weitzman) is a scumbag with no qualms about taking fanwork without permission, feeding it to AI and monetizing it for his own financial gain; 

2. Fandom can really get things done when it wants to, and 

3. Our fanworks appear to be hidden, but they’re NOT DELETED from Weitzman’s servers, and independently published, original works are still listed without the authors' permission. We need to hold this man responsible for his theft, keep an eye on both his current and future endeavors, and take action immediately when he crosses the line again.
