Special Feature Deep-Sea Creature

Hi, I'm Light. Jellyfish enthusiast, apocalypse hobbyist, microbe fan, writer, once-upon-a-time SCP Foundation staff. (Yes, as in "Sophia Light." I'm that one!) Come for the existential terror, stay for the axolotl facts. Ask me before linking posts here in a more formal context. Thanks!

welcome to the Existential Terror experience

I'm Light AKA Sophia Light.

Here are some things I've made:

BE NOT AFRAID, this eldritch angel emoji (using an unfortunately now-defunct emoji mashup tool)

Various SCPs and SCP stories. Here's my author page on the SCP wiki. Some of my favorites are:

How to tell if you live in a simulation, a creepypasta tutorial on the simulation hypothesis and being a large language model. Written for Gearsday 2024, posted on the wiki too.

I have at least one ARG of my own. I'm not telling you what it is.

Here's my personal website, which one day will have more stuff on it.

it's genuinely nuts that medicine became real. like in 1800 doctors are clearly charlatans who will fucking kill you for no reason, and in 1900 they're recognizably doctors. now they only kill people sometimes

like to their credit as a profession they shaped up pretty quickly once the basic knowledge was available. if you could have just gotten them washing their hands thousands of years ago they would have had a shot

Honestly it's buck wild. From Ozy Brennan's "Facts I Learned From Angel Of Death: The Story of Smallpox" (reviewing Angel of Death: The Story of Smallpox by Gareth Williams):

Other “treatments” included bleeding, starvation, denying the patient liquids, and forcing the patients to drink beer mixed with sulphuric acid. In 1719, two doctors dueled over whether it was better to use laxatives or emetics to treat smallpox. As you might expect, poor people were more likely than rich people to survive smallpox because they had a lower risk of encountering doctors.

And medicine just mostly doesn't kill you now? We took this dream and made it real? holy shit

I just got to and watched [s] cascade for the first time. I imagine this is an "if you know, you know" situation. I'm feeling a similar really-good-story high to when I finished the LOTR trilogy. Jesus fucking Christ, they weren't kidding about Chekhov's firing squad. That was amazing. I'm in awe that any human being could produce a story this impossibly complex. That was, no exaggeration, one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my entire life. I get it now. I get why people are so utterly obsessed with this comic. I thought I got it, but I didn't truly get it until now.

since i only ever send rick rolls to ppl i figured id just post one for all my followers for april fools day this year to save myself the effort

happy april fools y’all

quesadilla freak

Can of refried beans makes a great quick and easy quesadilla filling. Maybe plus some seasoning salt. You don't even need the cheese. (Making it a frijoladilla, I suppose.) Onions or peppers are nice in there too.

i made a pmv for what happens next, which is a fantastic webcomic made by @maximumgraves, seriously it's one of the best things i've ever read. it should be like. required reading for tumblr users i think

the song is cater to your ego by self, i started picturing the comic every time i heard this song at some point, so i just had to sit down and finally make it

cw for blood/violence, i don't show very much of it but there's a lot of upsetting stuff in this comic so be prepared for that. also some flashing lights/fast moving images and colors from 1:28-1:39, again i tried to keep it slow but idk how much i succeeded so if you're sensitive to that stuff then maybe skip past it
