Wizard girl with glasses, pointy hat, and a big book full of spells and incantations for making things blow up [the Anarchist's Cookbook]

No little witch girl! The Anarchists Cookbook is filled with misinfo and dangerously incorrect revipes! Here, thak this copy of TM 31 210: The Improvised Munitions Handbook!

I so desperately want to be able to convince Trump supporters with facts and logic and empathy, but it’s so important to remember that their ignorance is INTENTIONAL. my mom didn’t let us watch Sleeping Beauty growing up. I asked her why recently and she said, “it was evil.” when I pointed out other movies had similar themes and depictions of evil, and asked what the difference was, she couldn’t. I pressed one more time and she just said, “it felt evil to me. I didn’t like it”. same thing with dune 2: she said it was “dark”, and I was, “literally, like the movie’s lighting? Or the themes?” and she said “I don’t know” and didn’t want to talk about it more. many conservatives genuinely cannot tell the difference between “I don’t like it” and “this is evil” and they do not care to learn despite many chances

This is true and it will forever frustrate me.

It was a bizarre experience to grow up in a "non-denominational" Christian household and being told that people who don't think like us are "too emotional" and "don't think logically" only to realize that logic and rationality play absolutely no part in the formation of the average conservative's beliefs about anything.

It's all aesthetics. "Evil" has nothing to do with harm, it's about something looking evil, feeling evil. Anything that makes you uncomfortable is morally wrong.

My dad once tried to tell me it was WRONG for women to dye their hair unnatural colors. Not that he didn't like it or that he thought it looked bad, that it was WRONG. And he COULD NOT substantiate the claim when I pressed him on it. All he could do was repeat "it's just wrong" and refused to back down. That's their approach to almost everything they believe.

“So basically my couch has electricity and I use it to charge my battery powered doorbell”

“Okay that makes sense”

Now explain it to a Japanese samurai from the year 1218

"do you know how waterwheels grind up grain in a water mill using the force of running water? We found a way to create a huge source of force that runs all the time and can transfer its force over long distance. I can tell you in more detail, but that's the basics. Now that is a chime that has a mechanism that one can press instead of having to open the door to let you know that you are waiting to be let in. It requires the transferred force to make the mechanism work and that wire is how we transfer the force to the chime."

[ID: A four-page, mostly black and white comic featuring Jonathan Sims and Tim Stoker. Jon is a thin Arab man with curly black hair with lighter streaks and half-moon glasses on a beaded chain. Tim is a slim Latino man with a bright purple undercut, ear gauges, and a small goatee. The only colors in the comic are the instances of bright purple, and there is no dialogue.

The first page shows Tim dropping a purple pen on the ground. He's wearing a purple shirt and black slacks with black shoes. Jon, who has a small mustache and short straightened hair and is wearing a button-down shirt and sweater, sees the pen drop and picks it up, calling out to him. Tim turns to him and they exchange the pen, hands almost silhouetted against a light background. The lines on Jon's hand are gray while Tim's are purple. They smile at each other, Jon scratching his neck shyly, and shake hands, as though introducing themselves.

The second page is a montage. First there's a sticky note in a file saying "spooky!" with a little smiley face written in bright purple. Then there's Tim handing a file to Jon, who now has a full mustache and long hair pulled into a bun, while Tim rests his elbow on Jon's head, pointing at the file with his purple pen. Jon looks annoyed. Then there's the pen on the floor, surrounded by crushed worms, with one crawling over it. Then Jon's scarred and bandaged hand reaching out to the gift tag attached to a black walking cane, it reads "now we match" with a smiley drawn next to Tim's signature, written in purple. The cane has a purple ribbon tied around it. Then Tim, wearing a thick jacket and t-shirt, fidgeting with his purple pen by spinning it in a worm scar. Then a shot of Tim's desk, with a cup holding multiple pens, including the purple one, a stack of sticky notes with one purple section, and a ball of paper.

The third page shows a scarred Jon with a full beard and long hair tucked into his sweater and wearing sneakers and shorts walking through the archives, approaching a desk and running his finger through the dust on it. He looks solemnly at the pen cup and the purple pen in it, and reaches for it, his hand and the pen cup silhouetted against a light background. He pulls back, unsure, and it cuts between him and the pen cup as he tips his head back, shaking, and clasps his hands together.

The fourth page shows him breaking down into tears, covering his face with his hand and crumpling to the floor. Tim's desk is in a spotlight, with various items highlighted in purple and a purple gradient over the desk. Jon kneels next to it, shaking and crying, alone. end ID]

Doorkeay Vacation wip... first love confession, despite being together for years :")

On November 7, 2024, Denmark used a racist, culturally biased "parenting competency" test to remove a 2 hour old baby, Zammi, from her loving indigenous Greenlandic Inuit mother, Keira, because her native language, which uses minute facial expressions to communicate, will not be able to "[prepare] the child for the social expectations and codes that are necessary to navigate in Danish society." This test had been recommended not to be used at the federal level before this happened but certain municipalities, including the one this happened in, chose to continue to use it regardless. Not only is this blatantly racist but also violates multiple declarations and conventions that Denmark has signed that protect the rights of indigenous people.

Please sign this petition to help Keira to get her baby back.

Hey, it's really important for Keira to get 50,000 signatures on this petition before her court date in early April 2025. Please sign if you haven't already to help a mother and a people stand up to colonialism and for indigenous rights.

“I’m having my son in 2 months and I’m jealous of how cute baby girl clothes are” you can put your newborn son in a little strawberry print romper, I swear. he won’t mind. he won’t develop a complex over it, I promise.

It’s so interesting how heavily gendered baby clothes are an extremely modern phenomenon like even in the midcentury period baby clothes were often the same cut and color for baby boys and baby girls but now you can’t put your son in a pink romper and you have to use baby glue to affix a flower to your daughter’s head so everyone knows she’s a little girl.

Good lord. Well, here is further reason to please avoid subscribing to artist's patreon pages through the Apple store/iOS since the policy changes (subscriptions made prior to Feb 26th are fortunately unaffected by this).

I am incredibly fortunate in that these $100 that will apparently be held back for over two months do not spell a financial detriment to me at all - but If I were new to the platform, really needed that $100, or the majority of my supporters happened to be iOS users, that could have been a huge issue.

So please, and especially when you go to support small artists that you want to see thrive who opened their patreon accounts recently, go through desktop so that they won't be hit with apple's extra fees and actually receive the funds in a timely fashion!
