today's vetted fundraisers. please please continue to donate and to share as widely as you can. these families need our support more urgently than ever.

june 21st:

not yet vetted:

i know link-heavy posts can seem overwhelming, but please try to push past that for the sake of these families. a little time taken on our side can save lives.

last week two ambulances, a fire truck, a UN vehicle and around 16 rescue workers were dispatched to save people crushed under the rubble after a bombing in rafah (do you remember rafah? one of biden's red lines.) they disappeared, and due to israeli tanks nobody could enter the area and nobody knew what had happened to them.

a few days ago after the tanks left the vehicles were discovered crushed and buried under the sand, and one rescue worker's body was recovered. israel admitted to targeting them. and then yesterday the rest of the workers' bodies were recovered in a mass grave. one of the corpses had wire around one foot, indicating torture and interrogation, several handcuffed, all of them buried in their clearly marked uniforms and gloves.

cnn reported this story alongside like five other incidents of israel targeting humanitarian workers this past week to little outrage because the workers killed were palestinian and not international, and because israel has been regularly killing humanitarian workers.

but for the PRCS (the palestinian red crescent society), the same organization that hind rajab called desperately from her car around this time last year, one of the few that struggled to save lives throughout the war even when it got their workers killed by israeli forces, these are fathers, sons and loved ones who spent a genocide digging people out of rubble with no equipment and trying to save lives:

all of them were buried in a careless mass grave of rescue workers, found after a week of pleading from their loved ones and radio silence from their murderers and those who enable them.

Ibtisam Al-Habil is a single mother of 6 children who is facing multiple crises. In 2014, her husband was killed by the occupation during its assault. She and her oldest son Omar found work to support their family.

They were doing well until the occupation’s 2023 invasion. Their home was destroyed, along with their entire neighborhood. Ibtisam lost her job and her children lost their education. They were displaced to multiple shelters, at one point narrowly surviving an IOF bomb attack on a school.

Ibtisam’s daughter Nour suffers from Congenital Heart Disease, a serious medical condition which has left her immunocompromised, and she requires frequent hospital visits. Receiving the care Nour needs to survive has become ever more difficult, dangerous, and expensive. Further, centers are overcrowded, and the IOF’s sabotage of Gaza’s water and waste treatment systems have made them into centers of disease transmission. For Nour, this could be deadly. She is frequently sick now, compounding her prior condition.

Ibtisam’s oldest son Omar, a nurse who recently married and was expecting a baby with his wife Bashaer, was helping support the family however he could. Tragically, Omar was martyred by occupation bombing several months ago while looking for firewood. His younger brother was seriously injured in the same attack. Omar never got to meet his baby girl.

Ibtisam’s family is now completely without income, displaced, and constantly running for their lives. Nour remains ill, and finding the medical care she needs gets harder every day.

Originally Ibtisam was raising funds to evacuate her family to Egypt. This is probably still the plan for the future, but for right now, Ibtisam and her family desperately need funds to survive. Donations will be used to procure food, water, medical care, and shelter for the foreseeable future.

This family has suffered so terribly already. Please help give them a little hope for the future. Please reblog this post, boost Ibtisam’s posts on her blog, and repost the campaign link across all your social media.

Thank you

New temporary goal: $56,800 CAD

Need to raise: about $720 CAD ($500 USD)

NO DONATIONS IN MORE THAN 2 DAYS!!!

Ibtisam and her family are still struggling to evacuate!! They urgently need your support for transportation so that they can get out of the IOF’s declared line of fire!! Even a $5 USD/$7.5 CAD donation helps!!

"Your answer says a lot about who you are."

What Did You See First? Look closely at the image…

This simple image can secretly tell us something about you..

A man in a boat: You’re detail-oriented, sensitive, and thoughtful. You observe what others might miss and take careful steps in life.

A crocodile: You have a sharp, analytical mind. You see the bigger picture and face life with realism and logic.

The fish or line: You’re imaginative and creative. You see the world differently and love to explore hidden meanings.

The waves: You appear calm on the surface, but inside, you carry deep thoughts and powerful emotions.

But let me tell you what I see…🥺

I don’t see a crocodile.

I don’t see a boat.

I see myself.

I’m Kariman, a mother trying to protect her baby boy Hamoud—barely two years old—from the crushing jaws of life.

We live under siege, under bombing, under hunger that no one should ever feel.

My stomach is empty, but what breaks me more is when I see my son hungry… and I have nothing to give.

I write to you not seeking pity, but as a mother pleading with the world:

Please don’t scroll past our pain.

Please help us survive.

Maybe your hand is the one that can pull us out of this darkness🥺🙏.

The vehicle you are in is thousands of pounds going many miles an hour. do you know this

urgent help!

as you guys know my grandparents got scammed almost a month ago, some man told them he was going to send them medical equipment they needed for $500 dollars, we were desperate, not only they lost all the money they had, my grandpa has gotten significantly worse, he's starting to lose vision in his good eye and my grandma is losing mobility as well (evidence), I know I sound annoying always coming here and begging for money for my grandparents and for my college, I don't know how to anticipate the grief, losing my grandpa everyday to his illness, losing my college education cause I can't afford it, in México the situation it's just getting worse and even though I feel lonely I have found a community here and I'm forever grateful for that, even a dollar goes a long way and all the money will go to their medical needs since I'm very sure I won't be able to cover college expenses, please share and donate if you can, you can help via p*ypal or any way you want through ko-fi, here's the link! 💕 thank you sm

captured from an ambulance. captured. from an ambulance. do not stop speaking about palestine please

Basel Adra, another co-director, witnessed the detention and said around two dozen settlers — some masked, some carrying guns, some in Israeli uniform — attacked the village. Soldiers who arrived pointed their guns at the Palestinians, while settlers continued throwing stones.[...]
Adra said that settlers entered the village Monday evening shortly after residents broke the daily fast for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. A settler — who according to Adra frequently attacks the village — walked over to Ballal’s home with the military, and soldiers shot in the air. Ballal’s wife heard her husband being beaten outside and scream “I’m dying,” according to Adra.

my friend is still dying

anas's gastric cancer is metastatic and he's suffering terribly. i've seen videos and photos of him vomiting blood and i don't feel right sharing even if he's given me permission because i shouldn't have to show you my sick friend at his worst for people to care. he is not alone. he still has to care for his parents all while dealing with this illness taking so much from him, and the hospitals in the strip have been left with nothing to treat him. all i want is my friend's safety. all i want is his happiness. please give whatever you can

anas is getting closer to his goal but the bombardment has returned and so has his stress. he and his family have been sheltering in what remains of their destroyed home. they have limited internet so he can only speak to me and his other friends in the west every couple of days. there is no treatment for his cancer in gaza because no medical supplies have been allowed in. the stress has exacerbated his symptoms to the point he says he can barely move. he is one of the kindest, strongest, coolest people i've ever met. i'm so worried about him. please please help!!!

he has asked me to share more pictures since people don't believe him. so tw for blood and vomit below

one of the most enduringly obnoxious things about algorithmic feeds is that there is genuinely no amount of blocking and tailoring and "not interested in this" and "show me less content like this" that will ever ever convince the algorithm that you don't want to be shown content promoting weight loss

"this but with true crime" "this but with harry potter" "this but with fast food" nope! sorry, but no. i assure you that whatever has been pushed into your various social media feeds lately with irritating frequency is not as inescapable as weight loss ads. i assure you it is not promoted by every single website you frequent to the same degree as weight loss ads. and i assure you it has not done half the damage to you and everyone around you as weight loss ads. this is a post about weight loss ads

statement from mahmoud khalil shared by the center for constitutional rights

On the one hand: bullshit. Mahmoud Khalil has made statements in full support of Hamas and Hezbollah, groups who have stated the desire to kill all Jewish people. He has called the events of Oct. 7, when Hamas raped girls and women and killed children, a legitimate form of resistance. He glorified Aaron Bushnell's suicide. He has praised Sinwar, a man who tortured and murdered left-wing Fatah politicians and their families. The CUAD, which Mahmould Khalil led, encouraged Columbia University students to paint swastikas on campus and assault multiple janitors (who were men of color). Mahmoud Khaili is a grade-A fucking asshole.

On the other hand: Mahmoud Khalil deserves full process under the law. His detention and deportation does not protect Jewish people in America; it does not, in fact, protect anyone. The dude needs to be sued into the ground by the janitors whose assaults he facilitated, but he should absolutely not be arrested the way he was, he should absolutely not be detained the way he is, and the fact that both these things have happened is a huge red flag to anyone, anywhere, who values freedom.

Basically: I wish the absolute worst that a just legal system can inflict upon Mahmoud Khalil, but I will defend him against any and all unjust actions of the American government.

you “wish the absolute worst” that the legal system can “inflict upon mahmoud khalil” (wild word choice here) with the caveat that such a system must be “just” and respect the rule of law etc whatever bullshit qualifiers you want to append. such a system does not exist in this country. immigration detention facilities and private prisons where immigrants are increasingly being detained ARE the worst that the law has to offer and are rife with abuse, torture, preventable deaths resulting from medical neglect, lack of legal counsel or accountability for abusive guards. the list goes on and on. there is no theoretical just law you can gesture to, there is only the rotten, racist, currently existing system that we have, one that is increasingly being weaponized against climate refugees, and will be weaponized further against political dissenters. the slanderous, unsourced claims you raise against khalil are the justifications used by those that have stripped him of his legal rights and are currently keeping him imprisoned.

also fyi posts like this ^ just make it sound like you were raised in a deeply antisemitic environment and have subsequently developed a philosemitic (and no less dehumanizing) politics towards jews. it also comes across as highly dismissive of black people, non-white immigrants, and other groups that are targeted by white supremacists, by framing their oppression as tertiary as opposed to interconnected with that of jewish people.
