Unfortunately I ended up stuck in the city my treatments are in for two extra days after my injections, meaning most of my rent funds and extra for treatment had to go to a room and food and transit back.

I had a post with all those updates bit I wanted to put it here as well summarized. I am basically now yet again in the position of needing to fundraise towards rent instead of treatments. I do work, and I have more work this month but freelance has proven to be a bit of a slow process being paid, so I do not wanna risk not being able to pay rent. To comfortably cover rent + expenses, I need about 250, and I would prefer to have reached that making sales of this zine than just getting funds because after a while it just feels demoralizing

Willem Arondéus (22 August 1894 – 1 July 1943) was a Dutch artist and author who joined the Dutch anti-Nazi resistance movement during World War II. He participated in the bombing of the Amsterdam public records office to hinder the Nazi German effort to identify Dutch Jews and others wanted by the Gestapo. Arondéus was caught and executed soon after his arrest. Yad Vashem recognized Arondéus as Righteous Among the Nations.

Their attack, which took place on 27 March 1943, was partially successful, and they managed to destroy 800,000 identity cards, and retrieve 600 blank cards and 50,000 guilders. The building was blown up and no one was caught on the night of the attack. However, due to an unknown betrayer, Arondéus was arrested on 1 April 1943. Arondéus refused to give up the rest of his team.

Arondéus was openly gay before the war and defiantly asserted his sexuality before his execution. His final words were:

Every time this comes up I’m so baffled by the sheer number of people in the notes who think that 84 °F is just an inherently comprehendable number that people understand intuitively and 29°C isn’t, even though thats like saying English is inherently more comprehensible than French. Like yeah, to YOU, because thats what you learned.

Also, as a somewhat northerly Canuck, the idea that the temperature at which water freezes is completely irrelevent to human life is VERY funny to me. Id go so far as to say that for half the year, whether the number is + or - is the single most important piece of information the forecast provides.

Oh my god thank you! Especially for the temperature in which the water freezes - this is very important to know if there’s a chance the rain that fell last night will be a nice, super slippery layer of ice today.

There’s also an undeniable symmetry to Celsius: Water freezes at 0°C and boils at 100°C! I don’t respect whatever the fuck is going on with Farenheit because a “32°F-212°F” scale isn’t remotely intuitive.

One can argue that I don’t need to know the temperature of water in order to understand the weather forecast, but if I know my blood will literally boil at 100°C and my tissues are going to start freezing at sub-zero, I think it’s at least ✨ relevant ✨
