For @elainweekofficial Day 4: Seen & Unseen — Elain with Jesminda

Here’s Elain basking in the sun with my version of Jesminda from my fanfic A Court of Embers and Sunlight. I have to insert Jes into everything but UGH I can’t help it I love her so much. One of my favorite things to see in Elucien fics or Gen Elain fics is when Elain gets visions of Jesminda from the past, or she sees and speaks with her spirit. So I felt inspired to draw that for this prompt.

And now a ramble about me gushing over these two girls:

There is something so utterly romantic about the potential between Elain and Lucien—more than the golden threaded mating bond coiled between their souls—and where their story is headed. Elain wants to be seen and I believe that Lucien does that and so much more. I believe that Elain may hear Lucien’s heart, but Lucien can see her heart plain as day.

(A must scene for their book is Lucien showing off his magic to his lady!)

The first thing Feyre thought of when Rhys said Elain just needed time and safety for a new side to emerge was Lucien's present.

That feels rather uncanny, especially considering how Feyre snapped at him and feared she would be dead for doing so, only for him to grin in response. And how Lucien was the first person Nesta spoke to after she finally felt at ease in the River House during Solstice, even after the fire crackled, a trigger for her that she acknowledged and released.

If Lucien played such an instrumental role in Elain's sisters finding their footing, how much more could he mean to his mate herself?

The tragedy of losing a home, but the opportunity to build another. Home is, as they say, where the heart is.

I always wondered what Lucien may have felt when he reached the end of Elain’s bond, and what Elain may have meant when she said that all she needed was sunshine. A future built off of the backs of two people seemingly lost in this world who found their way to one another. (Ft. Grandpa’s sunshine)

Dead—really, truly, I should have been dead for that.

But Lucien grinned at me. “Much better.”

“Oh, fuck you,” Nesta snapped, and then choked.

Elain blinked. Nesta blinked back, horror lurching through her.

And then Elain burst out laughing.

Elain held up a hand, wiping her eyes with the other. “You’ve never said such a thing to me!” She laughed again. “I think that’s a good sign, isn’t it?”
