Rebloging The Friends Who Follow Me

@funiduber / funiduber.tumblr.com

Just an Trans Woman (she/her) doing her best. Love’s DND, anime, gaming, among other things.

"oh, you're a trans woman? omg you're gonna love this then, it has like, sooooo many drag queens in it!"

The unspoken subtext of course being "oh you're a trans woman? omg you're gonna love this then, it's also about men that put on costumes and pretend to be women, just like you!"

From here on out, for every "Not a trans woman, but I love drag!" this post gets I kill a hostage.

Images that make you enter a fugue state

Surrender to cars?

Jesus Christ, when was the last time a swede did anything useful?

What the fuck those streets were before cars, fucking playgrounds and parks with waterslides?

Or did people commute on them, on the level of whatever technology they were on, the vere purpose they were built for since the first city?

I'm trying my best not to automatically dislike artists, I really do, but sometimes I just wish I could send them milking cows or shoveling gravel.

@santaclausdeadindian "What the fuck were those streets before cars, fucking playgrounds?"

Yes, actually.

[description: a black-and-white photo from the 1900s of a group of girls in pinafores standing in the middle of the street; according to the website I found it on, this is a 'street dance'. The girls are talking to each other in small groups. end description.]

Children used to play in the street all the time. And for most of recorded history, that was relatively safe. Running into someone on foot is not going to kill a child, and horses - let alone carriages- were relatively rare.

Streets used to be public spaces. People would hang out and talk in the middle of the road, or set up shop with a little cart at the side of the road. "Right of way" used to mean "your right to take up space on the street, because you are a free citizen and free citizens get to use the road."

[description: a black-and-white historical photo of two children in the middle of a mostly empty street. One child is sitting in a wagon, and the other child is standing, ready to pull it. End description.]

It wasn't until the 19th century that it became common enough for your average joe to own horses that it was unsafe for kids to play in the street (and they still did anyway!). And it wasn't until the early 20th century that people got cleared off of the street in favour of cars- before then, people and horses and carriages had to share the road, and carriages had to go at the same pace as whatever was around them.

We laugh at the insanely low speed limits of the 1910s and 1920s - really, cars can only go at 3 mph?- but they were there for a reason, and that reason was "to keep the roads safe for horses and pedestrians". If cars could go at top speeds on city roads, they'd only be safe for cars, and people couldn't use their public spaces anymore. But thanks to lobbying by the auto industry and a whoooole lot of PR spin, that's exactly what happened.

I'm going to leave you with two pictures. The first is Mulberry Street in NYC, according to wikipedia, in 1900. The second is Mulberry Street today.

[Description: two photos of city streets. The first photo is sepia-toned, from the 1900s. It shows a city street full of people and carriages. The foreground of the photo is taken up by a group of vegetable sellers, and a group of men and young children standing beside them looking at the camera. The second photo is a modern photo of the same street. It is a heavily decorated tourist district, but most of the street is taken up by cars. The sidewalks are crowded with pedestrians, but they're shoved off to the side. End description.]

Little Italy is a tourist district. It is meant to be walkable so that tourists can browse and look at all the little restaurants and window-shop. And yet 75% of this picture is taken up by a fucking car canal, and people- the people this street was built for - are shoved off to the side, so as not to get in the way.

People got forced off the road in favour of cars. People got forced out of public space in favour of cars.

And if that doesn't piss you off...

...did that person really just say 'When was the last time a Swede did anything useful'?

Some cities in Europe are trying to combat this with the idea of the "superblock", which is how a lot of Barcelona is organized.

The idea is to take an area of several blocks, demarcate it as a "superblock", and reroute streets inside of it in such a way that cars can drive in and out of it but not straight through it.

Thus, the idea is that the streets bordering the superblock allow for heavy car traffic, but the streets inside it are mostly used by pedestrians, with cars being treated as guests (as the way traffic is rerouted makes going inside the superblock essentially useless for people who are just passing through, the only car usage inside would be residents coming in or leaving, or people visiting residents and businessses in the area)

Of course, this is not a one-size fits all solution. These superblocks are able to function as walkable communities in the European cities where they've been implemented because they contain a relatively diverse mix of businesses and residences, but the concept might not be applicable in cities in the U.S. or here in Latin America that have more clearly segregated residential and commercial districts, where you would end up with some superblocks containing only houses and apartments and others containing only businesses.

The thing neurotypicals tend not to understand about the ADHD brain is that it really only has two gears

I turn to the chalkboard and carefully write out

WORKIN' HARD

HARDLY WORKIN'

Much like a cars transmission getting stuck between gears the adhd brain can also access a secret mode called HORKLY WARDIN' that feels bad

Perhaps this will be thought of as being too woke but it's really discouraging that people are constantly inventing new reasons to think of people with slow reaction times or who misunderstand instructions as evil or idiotic or soulless. Like complaining about older people having a blank stare while they try to process what the barista said or whatever. Oh, they have the evil bad people lead poisoning. They're brain damaged. They have Facebook brainrot. They're NPCs, whatever, etc. As someone with bad sensory processing from psychosis and ADHD (you people can't do anything haha I know omg disabled person is disabled) I so often end up lagging there trying to understand what I'm supposed to do. I have trouble reading the instructions on the keypad, I have trouble processing the push or pull on the door, I have trouble processing the words being said to me and following instructions. You can still think I'm a piece of shit customer and that's fine but going online and seeing people act like this behavior makes you subhuman and non-concious is soooo depressing

There are so many situations in our world where if you suggest someone might have a somewhat sympathetic reason for acting in a strange way, people get extremely mad that you've taken away their favorite inherently evil demographic and start acting like you're the bad one. "Don't pathologize everything" you're pathologizing it in different words, you just don't like the words that make them seem like human beings with internal logic

And if you don't have a disability now as a young person someday you'll be old and more mentally disabled than you are now and everyone will hate you the same way btw

It got funnier when I realized just how many tulips are in this picture.

“In a world where tulips were yellow, one dared to be different…”

Every spring this picture comes back around and every spring I crack up

at first you just see the row of tulips in the foreground, and it’s funny

then you see the rows stretching back for yards and yards, and it’s even funnier

Heyo so I’m throwing a big ol party after quarantine if this hits 1 mill so uh if anyone’s out there pls help embarrass my sister even more 7 years later

Happy 22nd of April, everyone!

10 years of embarrassing OP’s sister!

Let’s make it 11!

was behind a truck today with a bumper sticker that said "JESUS CAN HELP YOU" and in my head i was like 🙄 ok but then i saw a second, handmade sign on the side of the truck that said "taskrabbit: call jesus torres" and his phone number

JESUS SAVES

You time and money over other repairmen

Another dream comic. Had a dream where I was tied to a chair in a dark room and some hooded figures killed me after I begged for my life—but then I got caught in a time loop and so I kept trying to figure out what I could say to get them to not shoot me but they killed me no matter what I said. Started just shouting random stuff eventually.

one of the more bleak things to acknowledge is that if you pirate literally all of your music and then set aside a spotify subscription's worth of money each month to spend on a single pay-what-you-want album, it would almost immediately amount to you supporting those musicians more than streaming does

pirating all of your music and then buying a hat or something four times a year still makes you pull significantly ahead of the person who streams thousands of songs every year. it's not really a fair or good system for anyone

What a good post to reblog on bandcamp friday. Remember that any money you spend on albums on bandcamp today goes 100% to the artist.

I saw a lot of people reblogging this with my addition two days ago and now I'm afraid some of them might have thought it was bandcamp friday that day lol. So for anyone with post timestamps turned off: I made that addition on Friday March 7th 2025. Bandcamp fridays always fall on the first friday of the month (when they do them) so the next one should fall on April 4th

The next Bandcamp Friday is on May 2nd, 2025! You can use this page to check how long until the next one :3

The remaining ones this year are:

  • May 2nd
  • August 1st
  • September 5th
  • October 3rd
  • December 5th

This is so
