“One wants to tell a story, like Scheherezade, in order not to die. It’s one of the oldest urges in mankind. It’s a way of stalling death.”

It’s important to do that for a bunch of different things, to just learn how to be happy and present in the moment. But it’s hard when your brain is constantly thinking, ‘What about the future?’ and ‘What about the past?’. It’s the human struggle – basically ‘What does it mean to be content?’ — Joe Keery +

my favorite thing is... the golden protected child who’s self conscious about having been loved. because their charisma, their spontaneous kindness and easy nature is something that is so needed. everyone wants a taste of pure, unthinking kindness. everyone looks at someone who lacks self hatred and think : I would die for you to stay just as you are. and so people around them end up completely drawn in, acting like knights, protecting an aura, a ray of light that is so alien and special. but 1) it’s all projections. the golden child’s life has not been so easy really. but they can’t say anything because 2) everyone is depending on them to represent that something and they are half aware of it so they feel ashamed. they want to make amends. like they must pay for something, like they owe it to everyone. that anxiety, the performance it breeds, it all means they are doomed to break but the minute they do, something needed will have gone out and so they don’t and they accept everyone’s projections and they take on everyone’s issues and they understand, they listen, they mend. truly, it’s like a sun that’s been rotating for too long. they’re bound to tire themselves out. they’re a leader, a pipe dream, a power source, all wrapped up in a winning, self conscious smile... I’m obsessed
