—A loving exploration of various themes, ramblings and ideas: the sacred and the profane; the weight of grief; death as rebirth; hubris and its cost; bringing back that which should never be returned; to be as a deified anathema; to exist as an unmeant God in a land that is not your own; madness twisted into lucidity; knighthood and the loss of honor; death as the maiden and the witch; cutting the threads of fate and challenging the forces that be; the arrival of the inevitable; and what it means to be as confessional and burial ground-- an open grave that speaks. Lastly… To be beloved by something you cannot see, cannot touch, and can never truly know. Affiliated with: @oathloathed @theblackwarden @yeleltaan/ @sihilkaah @bcwblade @yellowfingcr

I came up with a few different more 'official names' for her people, and even old lore and the like regarding what she was brought into... hopped on top of good old 'coven politics' and customs.
#Things that have been on my mind for years that I had issue putting words to#The eater themselves was once subject to countless body-regulating rules and a vow of uh. quasi-Chasity#and it did vary in what extent it went among bloodlines-- clearly if none had kin we would not have Helena nor her mother#An eater is never to Marry of the living but may take a lover-- and that twisted with time#Back then if they Marry it must be of the Spirits willing in a symbolic bond.. or they belonged to a 'deity' or patron#Markings have more meaning -obviously I did touch this abit- beyond just bindings and spellwork and what history offered#Markings of sin eaters from bygone eras are immortalized in different ways#Something of their markings manifests on the current sin eater(s) set of body markings#Feast of ashes is a celebration of coven members past-- but is also in part the consumption of a body via breads and the like#Many of these things crumbled away with time but some things still survive and not all of it was The Best clearly#i can't wait to go more into body talk/the body as grave/void/hole/vessel with them#Ghost husbands and wives-- imagine#they even had words and terms for them and that began looooooong before Helena was born before it eventually changed#yelling at 2am trying to rest#may do a more cohesive post on this if I can think-- may not idk how much I want to throw on dash just yet#we'll see#problematic elements fully intact too;#No one is up/around save for ghosts#Dead hours posting but oh well#//delete later

Going to be here for the next few days. I plan to also do a dash clean-up for this blog, mainly focusing on dead/inactive blogs and those who have not reached out in any capacity over the past year since establishment. Mainly to keep it clean and my circle smaller, and to tweak abit just for my comfort. This will be happening within the next week or two.

No hard feelings, you can even refollow if you get caught up, but I may not follow back immediately as a result.

Decapitation/headlessness is in general association with a manner of rite and ceremony, much like with cremation concerning ancient death rite, the eternal cities and even death rite birds. While this HC will not discuss that fully just yet, it made me think back upon some of her practices, some other tidbits and where that may connect in even if for reasons distinct to her. Thinking back upon the very strong symbolism apparent in heedlessness as connection to death rite and preformed through a manner of ceremonial execution via decapitation to further enshrine the spirit of the one executed. Other details hinting back at the practice are apparent. From the sacrificial axe, to the headless knights that protect the mausoleums, and how thier armor is bedecked in feathers that strongly elude to a connection to death rite birds and what that means etc. Now, taking this into thought-- the skull (or lack there of) is of partial importance regarding uses of bone in her magic, materials and spellcraft. As a result, I've since come to the conclusion that she would be a keeper of heads in some manner or another. Be it for funerary rite/burial act, spirit work or spell work. As you'd expect, there is relevance in such actions concerning where she came from and further assist in cementing part of her role. Much like the skull, many bones serve a function for various purposes for her. Such as for binding, calling spirits, burning, divination, communion processed into char... this is also eventually done to tend Ghostflame before she was able to fully muster it... The skull holds a unique function and purpose. On the one hand: depending on who and what you, you're either kept in reverence, properly burned and scattered, or placed in your final resting place in regard to her law. Your skull painted/etched into in accordance to rite, and cared for for as long as it remains within her possession or within your burial grounds that she. That is... if said skull simply isn't as a unique ingredient as a summoning tool-- or as a serving point of severing soul from body. Side note: Her time as The Witch Knight stood as testament and contributed heavily to the solidifying of some of these practices. It was during this period she would take the heads from various lords, enemies and other specific targets... and just about anyone who came to hunt her down. The act of decapitation became strongly associated with her during her extensive 'revolt'. When it came to collecting or making use of any of it, what wasn't broken down into char and used, was aptly discarded rather than kept... for she revered none if very few of them. The very few that were kept during that "era" was done so for unclear motives and purposes.

stabbing as a metaphor for penetration is great but when are we going to talk about pressing down on where someone is wounded to disarm them or just to be cruel while fighting. does nobody else care about the perverse intimacy of knowing exactly where to touch to overpower someone. the grotesque vulnerability of it. especially if you're the one who wounded them in the first place.
