do you ever just immediately love the colors (bright) and concept (a highly stylized homage/parody of 50s/60s thai melodramas and action movies which is ALSO a western) of a movie SO much that you watch the only version of it you can find anywhere that is not butchered by harvey weinstein (who got rid of a fifth of it) even though it's spoken in one language you barely understand and subtitled in another. or are you normal about tears of the black tiger (2000)

#discussions of this movie compare it to both douglas sirk AND sam peckinpah. i was already head over heels at that point#so anyway harvey weinstein. and i cannot make this shit up. cut 25 minutes of the movie and changed the ending#and apparently the director said they wouldn't let him recut it FOR them if they wanted it shorter. they just sent him the new cut#and that. get this. they HAD to have a happy end because nobody wanted to see something sad after 9/11.#9/11 made harvey weinstein delete 20% of a thai homage/parody of melodramatic 50s/60s movies and westerns??????#genuinely what kind of sentence even is that. why do i have to type this#and then they didn't even release it in the US for years because it wasn't looking like a good idea for their fiscal year!!!! what!!!!!#if you do all that to someone's art and then you're rude about it AND call on 9/11. they should get to spit in your cereal#*#tears of the black tiger#the great news is that the language was less of a problem than expected. i could follow the events at least#the even better news is that i got SO sucked into the movie i forgot i was listening to thai while reading spanish#and do you know how high of a barrier that is! do you realize how much that takes! i love overthinking about words#but the colors... the insane romance... the exploding cops

best part of 3x06 death in a different place is that they cast a real, fairly well known drag queen as a drag queen character instead of slapping an unwilling straight man in a wig

she's a fun side character that feels genuine and natural and familiar

the other best part of this episode was that the only thing that got hutch pressed was Sugar presuming his hair was bleached and not natural

starsky having a crisis the whole episode and hutch is just like โ€œthere are gay people and also my hair is naturally blondโ€
