Japanese Langblr Community
So! A little while ago, a Japanese langblr Community began existing. Thanks to the help of @dokushoclub and @2screamingpears, I've been able to test how it works.
Tumblr Communities have some limitations and ways that posts inside them function differently to the normal dashboard:
- Posts made within a Community, or reblogged into it, cannot be reblogged. Posts originally made outside the Community are still generally rebloggable, just not from the Community page.
- Communities can only be interacted with, in any capacity, via a user's main blog.
- Community posts have two types of replies: Public and Community replies. They work the same way, except Communtiy replies are not visible when the post is viewed outside the Community.
- Community posts can be reacted to with emoji!
- Communities have an entirely separate tab for poll posts.
For these reasons, I feel that a langblr Community would be really well suited for posts in which someone is looking for corrections on their target language posts! At least, that's what I think could be a good use of this space contra regular tumblr.
Obviously I don't imagine like. Bonking people over the head if posts that aren't for getting corrections on your Japanese pop up. Just wondering if people would be interested in joining if that was the main focus.
Since Communities also have a dedicated tab for polls, so I imagine it could also be fun to run little poll games of "guess this kanji's pronounciation" or "guess what this saying means" etc.
Also: If you want to join at all, there is an invite link now, yay!
REMINDER: If your app is not up to date, there is a risk that trying to click the Community tab at the bottom will cause really weird flashing on your screen! Please, if you want to use Communities in your app, please please make sure it's updated.
