FREE Texture Pack for CSP, Krita, SAI, and more

Something to go with those brushes I released last month: NATURAL MATERIALS V.1 is a small collection of [free!] texture overlays created from scans I made 5 years ago that I finally put to use. Should mostly work in any program that can open .PSD files. :D

For more fun, Pair this with the STIPPLE BEAST brush pack: https://tombofnull.itch.io/stipple-beast-brush-pack

These are textures that I painted and scanned for use in my art, and I'm happy to share! Anyone is free to use them for personal or commercial artwork, as long as they're substantially modified or part of a larger piece. (i.e., if you're drawing a character you can stick one as-is on the character's shirt, or you can use one to texture an illustration that you're printing on a real shirt, but do not just print one as-is on a real shirt).

There's definitely no need to credit me when you use these, though it would be nice of you to keep the link to this post handy in case a fellow artist asks for it!

As I said anyone is free to use them, but if you want to tip, here's my ko-fi. If a lot of people like these, maybe I'll make more and add them to the google drive.

Here's a tutorial on how I use these textures in my own illustrations.

Have fun!

By no means am I a teacher these are tips on how I personally draw stuff.  That being said I will be uploading much more in detail tutorials about anatomy and background/scenery construction on my Patreon exclusively in the future as these were just 20 minute quick cheat sheets so to speak.

i've gotten a lot of very kind feedback about how i draw fat bodies, so i thought id make a little guide showing my thought process!! this is far from comprehensive, but maybe it'll be helpful to anyone who feels intimidated drawing plus size furs :)

if anything is unclear, please feel free to ask questions in the replies or reblogs!! <3

Hey friends! Meg here for this weeks TUTOR TUESDAY (*cough*on Wednesday*cough*) Today we’re taking a look at some exercises on learning to see objects as forms when drawing them and not just outlines. This is Really Super Important to making accurate, dynamic pieces! If you have any rec’s send ‘em in here or to my personal! Now go forth and I’ll see you next Tuesday!

Instead of looking at objects and trying to copy them exactly (including the angle, as if it were flat), the pros READ the shapes & forms! THEN, using perspective, they create an object of their own in their drawing - one that is BASED on their subject, but also fits the needs of the piece.

This tutorial uses concepts and terms I go over in my other “visual math” sheets - which I posted a few days ago.

Many people asked me how to draw forms. Here you go. Very simple. Just get used to drawing REALLY simple shapes in perspective (cubes, cylinders and spheres. After that - all those shapes being cut, deformed and combined). And that’s it, if you draw those shapes easily - you can draw anything, congratulations

Hi hello! I just watched both your animation videos and I ABSOLUTELY ADORE your colour aesthetic. I am making an animation video myself for uni, and I'm sorry if that's been asked before, but could you maybe tell me what's the brush you use? I love this rough-ish texture it has (and maybe your animation program if it's not too much, if it is I apologize). Fantastic work!! Thanks a lot~

Thank you so much! The Lonely Stoplight had a mix of a bunch of different dry brushes from Kyle’s Drawing and Ink Box. But Time of Death basically only used one brush, which is a KYLE Ultimate Charcoal Pencil brush with the texture turned off. Here are the specs:

As for the textures in Time of Death, I used Kyle’s Screentones or the Color Halftone Pixelate filter on black and white gradients to make the dots and a custom stamp to make the lined hashmarks (you can find easy tutorials online for both).

I use Photoshop for all my animations, which can be really tedious but it gets the job done and allows me to use nice brushes, unlike Animate/Flash.

Here are the links to Kyle’s website, which includes a free download for his megapack. However, you’ll need a CreativeCloud account to download them.
