A Writer's Introduction

Alright, I've been posting short stories and things for a few weeks, and now that Halloween is over, I thought it was time to do a proper introduction.

Who Am I?

My name is Liam. I am a 30 year old, British writer, who is currently unpublished. I'm cisgender, go by He/Him pronouns but have no object to They/Them, I'm straight (as far as I'm currently aware) and have mild Dyspraxia. I primarily write novels, but also short stories. I have various projects in the works, some of which I will be posting here.

What Am I Writing?

Currently, my potential projects include almost a dozen story universes, but to be straightforward, here are my main projects.

What Will I Be Posting?

  • Random Short Stories
  • Tales of Hero City
  • Snippets of Novels

I'll mainly be posting short stories and other minor writing pieces I have lying around, or I suddenly write. However, I will also begin posting a selection of stories from my Tales of Hero City collection. I may also start posting snippets from my novels, but we'll have to wait and see. All my writing on here is tagged as #lamura dex writes!

Followers and Interaction

I am currently open to asks, reblogs, and general interaction. Reblogs especially would be appreciated, spreading the word. I'll of course discuss my projects, but I'll try and steer clear of spoilers where possible.

So, that's me. Hope to see you out there in the writer sphere of the internet.

People used to comment on web comics.

People used to comment on fanfiction.

People used to comment on fanart.

People used to comment on OCs.

I hate "content" culture.

I hate "consuming content" and scrolling immediately to the next thing.

People used to be excited about the art that other people created.

People used to want to share that excitement with creators.

I hate this future.

Once someone tagged art that I made with "woah" and I think about it at least once a week. Someone else said "oh neat" once. Someone else WROTE A WHOLE DAMN POEM IN THE COMMENTS. Anyways even just one word can change how someone sees their art. You don't even have to think about it too hard. You could put a keyboard smash and I'd probably cry from joy.

I'm also trying hard to interact more, I understand that it's hard to break away from opening your phone and being in Content Consumption Mode.

I honestly hadn't stopped to think about this until I saw this post... I used to think people would get annoyed if they were notified everytime someone posted a comment on their art. I never thought about it being like fanfiction and that they might appreciate comments. Frick, that means I'm part of the problem on here. Thats gotta change.

Every tag, every comment, every reblog with some kind of reaction/opinion or even just one word. All of these things are precious to creators!

I spent countless hours reading and rereading tags full of love people left under my art. All the people i could gift a laugh to or even inspire with something I made mean more to me then you could ever know.

It's what makes me proud of my art!

And to think that you could have enjoyed my art in silence and I would have never known.

A very special shout out to the person who tagged "these mcgriddles make me want to shit so bad" on fanart in 2013 I think about you once a day

I welcome every comment on my writing I share here or the couple on AO3. Every single one.

As someone who’s been posting my short stories recently, my word do I feel this.

Alright. New plan.

I'm gonna start posting my Tales of Hero City stories weekly, usually one a week. I have just one question.

I'll try and keep up with it until Collection One is complete.

Alright then.

Apocalypto Incident here we come, coming this Friday.

After that... the upload order might be more vibes than logic. We'll see how we go.

COLLECTION 1: MASTERPOST

I've posted a fair few of these short stories now, so I'm gonna compile them here. I've also put them in their proper order for the complete collection. They're not exactly in chronological order, just the best order I can come up with to tell these stories.

Small text for stories I haven't posted yet. I'll update this as I upload new ones. I'm thinking it's gonna become a weekly thing.

0. The Apocalypto Incident

1. Introductions Are In Order

7. Legacy of Chorus

10. Hand of Fate

11. Day of the Demons

12. Jack's Story

14. Sidekicks Club

15. Lucy's Story

16. Conflict of Interest

17. Cosmo's Story

18. Final Retreat

19. Epilogues

I honestly have a soft spot for Justice Man. He deserves better.

I'm reading the second story right now and I don't know who I hate more Sammy Swift or Footie.

What is the name of their team anyway?

Avatar

Justice Man is my favourite goofball. Those young heroes need to put some respect on his name.

The young heroes don't really have a team name. They're just four heroes, working together to stop these villains on a temporary basis. But, if I had to come up with a name for their team, it would be...

"The Youngbloods."

Or maybe "The Arrogant Four"

Hey! I honestly love your Tales of Hero City stories. I want to read them on ao3, please can you show the order of the stories? Like chronically?

Avatar

I have been posting them a bit out of order, just posting whichever I feel like, but they're all written in a way that they can hopefully be read standalone, in any order, for the most part.

For a more official order though, I've got a Master Post coming up in a bit that shows how I'd order them if they were in a published collection. It's not exactly chronological, but it's the best order I can come up with, jumping about the timeline as necessary.

And, I've now put the stories in a proper series on AO3. I'm still learning how to use that site. I'll be updating both the Series and the Master Post as a I post more of them in the coming weeks.

six song soundtrack game

spring break means i finally have time on my hands to return properly to writeblr, and what better way than a tag game!

thank you so much for the tag @whatwewrotepodcast

the rules: Make a soundtrack for your WIP/OCs based on the following prompts:

Event that defined your character’s past

How your character see’s themself

How others view them

Their closest relationship

A major fight scene

End credit scene

~ ~ ~

now, i've been working on two things simultaneously, Doubtless - my not-so-little prequel to Ruin's Reprisal, and it's sequel, which for now i will fondly dub rr2, and I'm so looking forward to sharing a little bit of a soundtrack for both!

i'll start with rr2, since that ironically has the most compiled playlist despite being the least put together of the works:

Event that defined your character’s past - In The Woods Somewhere, by Hozier

How your character see’s themself - Numb, by Tommee Profitt

How others view them - I'm The Sinner, by Jared Benjamin

Their closest relationship - Power Over Me - Dermot Kennedy

A major fight scene - Who Are You Really, by Mikky Ekko

End credit scene - Ordinary - Wedding Version, by Alex Warren

now for Doubtless:

Event that defined your character’s past - Devil, by RIELL

How your character see’s themself - I'll Be Yours, by Tales of the Forgotten

How others view them - You Put A Spell On Me, by Austin Giorgio

Their closest relationship - Me and the Devil, ultra slowed

A major fight scene - Daylight, Tommee Profitt

End credit scene - Davy Jones, by Hans Zimmer

this was so much fun! now to disappear back into my writing hole and get some more pages done (but i will be back, that's a promise, and really, i mean it this time :) )

~ ~ ~

tag list time! open tag as always too!

Six Song Soundtrack Game:

Thank you for the tag @agirlandherquill. Their post is here.

the rules: Make a soundtrack for your WIP/OCs based on the following prompts:

Event that defined your character’s past

How your character see’s themself

How others view them

A major fight scene

End credit scene

So, my first tag game in like... a month? Let's do this.

So first, I need to decide which story to use. But, since I spent the last month or so posting my Tales of Hero City stories here, I think I'll use those. This'll likely be spread across the cast but... I'm doing it anyway.

Let's get started.

Event that defined your character's past: (Henchman 14) (Last Resort)

Hit Me Baby One More Time covered by Tenacious D (He's been punched by every hero going!)

How your character see’s themself: (Justice Man) (Trust and Nemesis)

How others view them: (Justice Man) (Also Trust and Nemesis)

Their closest relationship: (Madame Mechanism-Judgement) (Love is a Superhero Fight)

A major fight scene: (Justice Man vs Dark Dragon) (Old Justice)

End credit scene: (Just generally fits the Superhero Theme)

And there we go. That was fun. And a good excuse to plug some of these stories again. (I need to get that masterpost finished)

But yes. Tags.

If anyone doesn't want to be tagged, or alternatively would love to be tagged, feel free to let me know. Currently I'm just tagging Writeblr mutuals, as best as I can work out.

Short Story: Love is a Superhero Fight

Tales of Hero City Collection

Wordcount: 13772

Synopsis: They say love is a battlefield, but sometimes love is born in the fight too. And sometimes, occasionally, that battlefield is the darkened rooftops of Hero City.

When Madame Mechanism finds herself having some difficulties in her love life, as well as her other life as a supervillain, she's rather surprised to learn that her nemesis, Judgement, might just be the solution to both problems.

And now one kiss might just change both those lives forever.

[A bit of a sequel to Academic Rigour]

Post Match Analysis:

The finale. For a bit anyway.

Anyway, this story came about purely because of Academic Rigour. I mentioned as a joke in that one that Tessa felt an attraction to Judgement, so what if it went further than that?

And so, love at first fight. Or something like that. The craziest love triangle I'm ever going to write, to the point it might be a square. And believe it or not, but this isn't even the longest Tales story I've written.

This is also one of the first stories I needed to hold back on the angst with though. My dramatic instincts wanted Jude to blow up, be furious, get angry and that turn this into a conflict. But no. These are cheesy, light hearted, and I wanted a romance damn it!

I love this couple. An absolute powerhouse. And they open so many fun doors for future stories.

But yeah, this might be the last posted for a while. I'm at nine in total, so I might round it out to ten, or if these stories start to get some traction... but until then.

Same bat time, same bat channel.

And by that I mean following this blog. Obviously.

And again: Tags.

If anyone doesn't want to be tagged, or alternatively would love to be tagged, feel free to let me know. Currently I'm just tagging Writeblr mutuals, as best as I can work out.

How would you describe your writing style, especially when writing Tales of Hero City? As a hard-core superhero writer, reader and lover, I really love the stories!

Avatar

Thank you! It's great to hear you enjoy them.

In terms of Tales of Hero City, I'd describe my writing style as comedic or light hearted, almost parody at times. Even the drama will have a bit of a comedic edge. And it's usually third person omniscient, with a slightly wry narrator voice to help with that.

Practically speaking, I just discover goofy ideas and follow them through, seeing what I can do with them. I'll often plan them out, but sometime, if an idea grabs me, I'll just sit down and write it in an afternoon.

And then I edit it to hell and back until my perfectionist little mind is contented. because I will overthink it.

Alright, I have a plan for March!!!

And I am going to post it here in the vague hope that it makes me stick to it.

So, as I've said in previous posts, I want to post more of my short stories over March. More of my Superhero Short Stories.

So, March is now my month for Tales of Hero City!!!

(Now with new, EVEN MORE IMPROVED crappy banner, and a fixed spelling error)

(Bloody hell...)

I'll be posting Tales of Hero City short stories throughout the month, and just to keep me to task

I've come up with a schedule:

Detective Lucy Washburn has to solve a bank robbery... all the while dealing with a gosh darned superhero in the mix.

Hero team, Omi and Cron, have just had their hideout wrecked.

It's time to go house hunting.

Tessa Kwells has to impress her teachers if she wants the grade she deserves. Luckily, she has a supervillain in the family.

When Justice Man's daughter is kidnapped, he turns to the one person he can trust. His nemesis.

The Villains Bureau is mostly just paperwork, trying to keep a few dozen crazed criminals in line. But what happens when an idiot makes a bid for the throne?

Stealth Watcher is new to heroing. And having no powers can be a bit of a setback. But he's not going to let those superpowered do-gooders upstage him!

31/03/25 - Love is a Superhero Fight (AO3 Link)

Tessa Kwells is having some difficulties in her love life, and as a villain.

Strangely, her nemesis Judgement is both these problems.

-

So yeah, seven Short Stories over March. Please, do read them, but even if you can't, please Reblog and Share so that maybe someone else might.

I am also working on an AO3 account to post them on, but my invite isn't scheduled until mid-march. Didn't realise you needed an invite.

I'll of course still be editing in the background, got a contest to prepare for, but I'm just hoping people will enjoy theses stories.

So, yeah. There's my plan.

Looking forward to it!

AND FINALLY

The last one, Love is a Supehero Fight, today at noon.

IF YOU GUYS LIKE LESBIAN SUPEHERO ROMANCE, THEN PLEASE, CHECK IT OUT!
