Will The Weaver

@willtheweaver

Weaver of Stories.
Writer, artist, poet.

Alright. It’s time for the big reveal:

Here’s all that you need to know:

- There are 41 prompts in total: One for each day, plus 10 alternate prompts that can be done in lieu of the daily ones

- You don’t need to do all 31 days. Do as many or as few as you want

- You don’t need to join at the start of the month either. Start whenever you want

- If anyone is unsure, or needs some inspiration, I will post additional information on the day’s prompt at Midnight EST, and the Alternate Prompts weekly

-Traditional art, digital art, writing of all kinds are all welcomed. AI and AI generated content are not permitted in any way, shape, or form (It should go without saying, but I’m going to say it anyways: as this is an event for everyone, please warn about heavy gore, NSFW, and such)

❗️No one may use any and all of the prompts and the resulting art and writing for the purpose of training an AI. Plagiarism and theft are no joke, and will not be tolerated❗️

Tag #faemay for posts related to the event

Countdown starts now! Hope to see you in May!

Taglist (let me know if you want to be added) @writingrosesonneptune @lefferon @jay-avian @harleyacoincidence @storycraftcafe

My words are: reach, turn, held, crank, ordinary, dust, sanctuary, clouds

Reach (from The Glass Cage): Playa reached out. Her fingertips hit something smooth and slick.

I knew it. She thought. Just like the other enclosure, this one is encased in a clear glass.

Turn(ed) (from Snow on the Pines): All was as quiet as the Deep. The three slipped out through the South Gate unnoticed. Fen paused for a moment and turned to look back at Fernstan for what may be the last time.

Held (from Wings of Twilight): “This is it!” Fen declared. “Playa is being held somewhere in here.”

Crank (from Snow on the Pines): Two placed their hands upon the crank and turned. The gears of the windlass rotated, and up rose the anchor from the water.

Ordinary (from Snow on the Pines): “To be honest, I don’t have any idea how I’ve managed .” Fen told her [Cya]. “What is ordinary for those on the ground can seem awfully foreign to those who live above it. Sometimes I don’t know where I fit in, having lived a life I wasn’t meant to live.”

Sanctuary (from Snow on the Pines): “You will be denied entry to the five villages and the outposts for the duration of one year. For that time, you will be outside of the protection that the law provides. Only in the Sanctuary of Exiles will you find refuge.”

Dust (from Wings of Twilight): Unlike the other parts of the facility, which were meticulously cleaned, these corridors were heavily covered with dust and debris, as if no one had been in them for a very long time.

Clouds (from The Glass Cage): It was like a sea of clouds or fog. Everything shifted and flowed, changing from smooth white to story grey, then back in no time at all.

Your words are: storm, danger, gamble, rumor

I met my younger self for a coffee -tag

Thanks for the tag @novel-nook-blog

Meet your younger self for a coffee and catch up!

Alright, here it goes then (apologies, as this has gotten far longer than I initially planned):

I met my younger self for a coffee

Well, maybe not coffee exaxtly

For no matter how young or old I am

I could never get over the bitterness.

Half an hour before the time

I arrive.

Table midway between front and back

Seat facing the door.

Twenty five till the met up

The door swings

And a young boy with a nervous look

Enters.

I rise and smile,

My younger self asks about

The glasses and hair.

“Just thought I’d try growing it out.

And things got to the point where

I could not deny

That my vision just stunk.”

We sit down

A lemonade and hot chai accompany

Cupcake and tart.

Silence for a moment, and then an ask.

“What is it like? For lines I see, all well worn

And in those eyes, tiredness.”

I pause. I always thought of myself

Back then quiet

Awkward, maybe even a bit of a jerk

Who got into things when he shouldn’t have

And not fully sure why

He went so often from mirth

To depression

And from rage to quiet

With so little

In between.

But then, I think, I’m going to hard

Some things I cannot control or change

And there was always that little piece

That seemed beyond its years

Understanding, empathic, wisdom ancient

And ways to see things like few others.

“Well, I’ll try to explain” I say at last.

I proceeded then, to pour out my soul, and from every crack

Oozed years and years of triumphs

Tragedies

And just life rolling on.

My younger self said nothing

Just listened, lost in thought.

Sometimes, I hesitate

Out of fear that I went too deep, said too much

But the reflection who saw

The towers fall said nothing

So I carried on.

At the end, when I have reached the last written page

He spoke again.

“Boy, how can you shoulder so much for so long?

“Feeling for others, seeing what came before

“Now come again. Seeing so much change

“And crumble before our eyes?

“How does it not crush you?”

I look my younger self in the eye

And smile.

“Because I never give up. Some may think me a fool (I know I have many times before)

“But I always hold out hope

“That the clouds will part

“And all that is bad

“Will come to pass

“Like a bad dream

“To be replaced by the warmth of dawn.”

All goes quiet. And then I check my phone.

Clock says we stayed longer

Than we had anticipated.

I say it’s time to go, and my younger self

Reluctantly agrees.

But before we part, he asks

If we will meet again.

“I cannot say 100%” I answer truthfully.

“But so long as you never give up, stay true to the path, leave a little room for distractions and dreams

“We may yet see each other someday.”

Love Pawsona Tag Game ☺️

My best friend found this little quiz and it's so cute!

Rules: Make this quiz as yourself or as one of you OCs

I tag (no pressure): @novel-nook-blog @introchasingstars @theverumproject + open Tag!

I got this:

That’s so cuteee!!!!🥹🥰 the quiz was so sweet!

I got this (a fellow hamster 🐹 )

It’s literally me, haha. Except the quiet and shy part, I’m kind of a loud person 😂.

(More than) Nine lines, nine people

Tay for the tag @space-writes

From Snow on the Pines:

——————————————————————

“You sure you want to do this?”

“I have no choice.” Fen’s voice was dead.

He took the flint knife in his right hand and ran it along the palm of his left. Fen didn’t flinch. He caused his bloody hand and grabbed one of the sewn ears of his hood. This he hacked off before placing it on the alter.

“I cast myself out, having failed to fulfill my duty to the village. Until I find and return Playa-Thá, alive or dead, I consign myself to beyond the palis, and my soul to the Endless Night.

“Let Al-Gia hear my words, and bind me to them.”

——————————————————————

Heads up, seven up

Thanks for the tag @indecentpause

From Snow on the Pines:

————————————————————

“I’m not so sure about that.” Fen replied. “I think it’s all a facade. There’s something about it all that feels almost…scripted. She’s buried her true self deep within.

“I don’t know if I can break through, I don’t know if anyone can break through. And I expect that I will get nowhere if she doesn’t open up.”

————————————————————

Ten opening lines

Thanks for the tag @pippinoftheshire

List the first line of the last ten (10) stories you published. Look to see any patterns you noticed yourself, and see if anyone else notices any.

Nothing is published so far (I’m working on it, don’t judge!) but here are ten opening sentences:

————————————

A Feather in the Forest

It was quiet that day in the forest.

Snow on the Pines

Wanetithe had ended.

The Glass Cage

Playa’s head was killing her.

Wings of Twilight

“Hey, wake up” Cya gently tapped Fen on the shoulder.

The Nighttime Book Sale

All was quiet as dusk fell on the city.

The Weaver’s Tale

It may be hard to believe, but there was a time when there were no stories.

A Knight for a Day

The town was deserted as everyone had taken the day off to see the parading knights.

The Broken Prophecy

Prophecy is something that is to not be meddled with, and woe to those who try and defy fate.

Crossing Tides

He knew the highest laws of his people.

A Day at the Station

It was early, well before dawn, when the first train of the day arrived.

—————————————————

Well, these are mostly short and to the point. There is some information about what is going on and/or a tease as to what is going to happen. What do you see?
