Conner and M'gann are shocked because that's the most he's ever said about himself (who knew all it took was a memory of his boyfriend.)
He comes back once the batter is in the oven acting like nothing happened.
At some point "fanfic can be as good as professional writing" became "fanfic should be as good as professional writing" and that's caused major damage to fandom spaces.

I know you were wondering how it all worked with him, not knowing what was going on.
Imagine going through this on a show that you produce through a company that you own, many thousands of company dollars in staff salaries etc. being spent on this shoot that you are very suddenly no longer in control of, and having to go out there and read your scripted lines like everything is fine just fucking knowing that the tables are gonna be turned on you on-camera in a huge way and having to trust the rest of your production team that it's at least going to be funny
Also knowing that it's orchestrated by Lou Wilson (unhinged), Vic Michaelis (even more unhinged, and whose Game Changer/Make Some Noise "character" has been incredibly hostile towards yours from day 1) and Jacob Wysocki (eerily good at getting people to help him with stuff), and they've had an entire year to set this up.

in early cyberpunk, the point was more along the lines of “if we integrate technology into our bodies we risk becoming dependent upon the people and institutions who control that technology, who would then use that to enrich themselves at our expense”
unfortunately that was too anti-corporate for American mainstream culture so as cyberpunk moved out of its niche it became “uhhh it eats your soul I guess”

#this is important context #if you weren’t around at the time it is easy to miss but #anti-corporate sentiment was pretty much the lynchpin of cyberpunk until there were movies and games making money off it #it was the 1980s you guys #the entire point was that corporations are evil and technology should be used to circumvent them and escape their control over our lives #and not be used to make ourselves into another product #now that the internet is entirely monetized and corporate it’s harder to remember that originally it was synonymous w freedom & independence
Yes, exactly. Cyberpunk is anti-corporations, not anti-body-modification.
And they (the original message, not Shadowrun) were right. So many people with prosthetics and sensory aids and insulin pumps and so forth are at the mercy of the bloodthirsty corporations who own the rights to their devices.
went to an arcade today and used some of the built up credit to get a 'lucky dip' bag because i thought it would be fun to give to some younger family members over the holidays. so i ask for one and the kid at the desk says "sure. do you want a boy one or a girl one?" and babe i'm usually polite about this but i'd dyked myself up to the max today and had apparently forgotten my mental filter at home so i instinctively burst out "THEY'RE GENDERED?" in the middle of a very busy arcade and the guy starts laughing so hard he has to pull out his inhaler
people might think creating OC lore involves a lot of thinking & planning, but in my personal experience, OC development is more like a divine vision from a god slamming you over the head with a mallet while ur doing the fuckin dishes or folding laundry

in germany, chris evan‘s roles (including steve) are mostly voiced by dennis schmidt-foß, but as johnny storm he‘s voiced by benedikt weber, and it made for a really cool moment during dp&w. bc wade’s super convinced that he‘s steve, but all the german people who watch the german dub of marvel movies religiously are already like huh??? bc that‘s NOT steve rogers‘ voice, and then when it’s revealed that he‘s actually johnny, wade‘s like "ah yeah, i should’ve known from the voice". and idk, it’s not hilarious or anything, but it just made me soo happy that they used wade‘s 4th wall breaks differently in different languages. just felt the need to share this
