A personal rating of ways I’ve seen Pearl and Scott’s red string of fate depicted
Solid red string between both of their fingers- This is a safe choice. Not indicative of the dynamic of their particular soulbond. 5/10
Red string between their fingers that gets thin in the middle- Shows the strain of their relationship, but I think we can get deeper with just how disconnected their views of the situation were. 6/10
String is wrapped around both of their throats- I like it but I feel like it doesn’t really make sense for Pearl? Unlike Scott, she never wanted the bond to break, largely because she was using it to torture him as payback and because she did want genuine connection at first while Scott rejected her immediately. Even when she rejected the bond and said Tilly was her real soulmate, she never straight up wanted to kill Scott like Scott wanted to kill her. 7/10
String attaches to Scott’s finger and Pearl’s heart/cloak- I like it. It takes their different interpretations of soulbond into account. Scott sees it as a literal thing and Pearl wanted a continuation of their friendship. The imagery can be kinda on the nose especially if it forms a broken heart on Pearl’s chest, but like, this is Minecraft not English class lol. 7/10
String attaches to Pearl’s finger and Scott’s throat- Like the above, it shows that Pearl wants to be soulbound while Scott sees it as a burden. Especially good if Pearl is tugging on the string, intentionally or unintentionally choking him. 8/10
Red string between their fingers that is decaying/rotting- The good shit. A bond that was once alive is dying. Two people who used to be best friends have had their relationship changed forever, and for the worse. 9/10
Red string wrapped around Pearl’s finger and hand multiple times but Scott’s only once- She is trying so so hard to cling on. He just has no choice. I love. 9/10
The string has been cut or torn in some way, but is still tied around their fingers- Beautiful, love it. They can cut the bond all they want but it will never actually go away. 10/10
Scott has either made a string to go to Cleo or has a different colored string connected to her- Perfect. I love you Widow’s Alliance even when you’re being petty. 10/10
Pearl’s string either straight up goes to Tilly or she made a new string to attach to Tilly- Perfect. No notes. That’s her real soulmate. 11/10
