So most of my followers (really all except 1) know me in real life, and initially my tumblr was a way to just do shit without being ashamed, now I’m getting notifications of people I legitimately respect liking my reblogs of the most degenerate posts and like I really should have considered this before giving people i know irl my tumblr but like god I never meant for y’all to see this side of me, if you lose all respect for me I completely understand and don’t fault you at all.

I know I could have a seperate blog for hornyposting but also tumblr is already supposed to be my escape social media, where I can be as mentally ill/neurodivergent and horny and fucked up in the head as I want without having to monitor myself and second guess every action. So to my 5 followers, if you don’t wanna see me hornyposting consider this your only warning.

It’s easy to forget JRR Tolkien was a fairly prolific academic translator with an interest in early medieval literature and philology. It’s so inspiring that he found time to write The Hobbit while fighting for his life over Beowulf.

JRR Tolkiens introductory notes for Sir Gawain and the Green Knight are like “This is a superb little poem. I really enjoy the author’s ability to weave existing narratives within folklore into one cohesive tale.” and his lectures and notes on Beowulf are lowkey like “Translating and analyzing this was my Waterloo. I have been looking at it for 40 years. I am Sisyphus and this poem is my burden. All of you are misinterpreting it. Me too probably. God help us all.”

#coincidentally beowulf contains a group of thirteen comrades journeying to their homeland for vengeance against the dragon that exiled them
