This is to answer because nothing has worked so far! But I would suggest um I dunno, anything other than a consumer boycott.

A good place to start would be standing in solidarity and supporting the workers who make these games, who will lose the most from a consumer boycott and gain the least from the rising prices of games! If you are able, helping to form labor unions in these industries will do so much more than not buying a game. I’m serious! Starbucks was organized by salters, it’s a proud tradition!

Even if you can’t do that—you can listen to the needs of these workers and follow their demands. So far I do not hear anyone other than random people on tumblr asking for a consumer boycott, which is one big reason why I know it won’t do anything!

Games being $80 or more are a condition of the ENTIRE economy—you can’t just extract one piece of it and assume it will do anything. Part of what has lead to the rising cost of your luxury entertainment product is 1) the rising prices of the conflict minerals that make up essential parts of computers and consoles and 2) the growing wealth disparity between workers and bosses across the globe and 3) the capitalist demand for constant growth. Without undoing these root causes, a leaderless, unorganized consumer boycott with no demands will not lead to anything other than layoffs!
