About Me, and Links for My Writing

Hey there! Welcome to my little corner of Tumblr! Although, it's more like the space between the back of the couch and the wall, y'know, where the cats keep batting their toys and dust bunnies congregate, but whatever, you're here, I'm here, let's get acquainted.

My blog is a safe place for all. Minorities, poc, LGBTQIA+, those questioning themselves or their place, or who feel all alone in the world.

You are not alone, you are loved, and you need only reach out if you want a hug or some mom advice. I'm here and will give it to you straight.

Anyway, HIYA! I'm Qwerty, and I write fanfiction. Got a few kids in real life, some cats, and a head full of ideas, angst, and blatant self-indulgent tripe that sometimes falls out onto the page. I specialize in character interactions, and deep-diving into their psyche to really find what makes them tick.

I also post bits on Wednesdays (when I remember) that are pieces I'm working on, or stuff I just thought came out well but have no real plans to continue.

The entirety of @mama-qwerty's Knuckles Angst collection! Qwerty is Knuckles' top warrior on AO3. I am hopelessly obsessed with the way she writes Knuckles and especially his relationship with the Master Emerald. The collection isn't necessarily a series- more like a combo of hypotheticals and fantastic angst ideas that Qwerty plays with, though later ideas do build on the earlier ones. Again, I just adore how much justice she does Knuckles, with his intelligence and autonomy and competency.

(Qwerty, we can unite together and no one will ever underestimate our favorite red sonic characters ever again. . .)

I also want to HIGHLY rec @wonderinc-sonic's Heatmaps. I mean, I could shout from the rooftops about all of Wonder's fics, but I'm fond of this one in particular at the moment. I like the way Wonder writes Rouge in this one in particular, despite the fic being tagged as Shadow-centric. It's just so damn interesting to make these three confront their physical differences. A lot of talk gets thrown around about Rouge being the only "normal" one but this fic scratches the itch in an interesting way that isn't just about angsting about Shadow and Omega's immortality.

The cousin of "he would not say that:" he would not keep saying that. It was a one off funny line for one particular situation. Every memorable line does not need to become a running gag.

idk I just think that, while of course you always want to make sure people make safe and smart decisions, that the constant hammering into some young marginalized folk about how they'll never be safe in communities that don't 100% match their marginalized identities isn't actually healthy.

like I do understand the desire for cultivating safe spaces and why they have value, but if you're fully convinced that you can never be safe around or even relate to anyone who isn't marginalized in the exact same way you are, then I think you're being sold on self-segregation and that isn't exactly beneficial to you.

Yeah, I've heard from various others that it was a few years, so I'm gonna go with that.

Hell, it may not even come up, but it's nice to have this kinda detail in mind!

If you have a plot bunny or stray fic scene stuck in your head that won't go away-

but you don't have the energy or inspiration to flesh it out into a full fic (yet, or potentially ever)-

I highly, HIGHLY recommend boiling it down into nothing but the absolute essential elements of the idea, writing it as a drabble (exactly 100 words) or a ficlet (generally under 1000 words) and posting it like that.

This will accomplish one of two things:

Either it will get it out of your head enough that you can stop thinking about it, or starting writing it and the reaction to it will give you the burst of energy or inspiration to flesh it out.
