PINNED POST THINGS

Hi! My name is L, I'm 22 years old and this is my blog! We mostly do Iliad stuff here (Diomedes stuff, really), but occasionally I'll also reblog posts about other stuff that I'm into. My fandom skill of trade is writing, and sometimes I'll post fanfiction too.

Euryalus who actually isn't the best boxer among the Epigoni. His friends are just assholes (not entirely, they didn't want to hurt his feelings initially and it went downhill from there) that now think it's funny to take bets on how long he'll last before he gets taken out.

If you operate on the tri-king ruling of Argos, it's actually so funny that Sthenelus and Amphilochus, both likely older than Diomedes, went "you take that one" to Diomedes and made him the "king of Argos" for purposes of war councils because there were NOT dealing with every other king there. Sthenelus inherited some of Capaneus' rage issues and he would absolutely lose his cool on the regular. Amphilochus is simply plagued by the horrors and doesn't want to be harassed like Calchas is by the Atreidai.

i have made my own sweeping, simplified statements about paris and his family before, for sure. but in all seriousness, his relationship with his family is complicated. they do hate him for bringing ruin to their doorstep. that is a very clear sentiment, and one that is talked about far more, even in jest, by the fandom than the fact that his family also loved him. they never gave helen back to menelaus and rarely showed any belief of wrongdoing within earshot of the achaeans because they loved him. and doesn't that make it all worse? it's their love for paris that dooms them all. because how could they stand idly by and hand him over to death when he has just returned to their family? he was spared out of love, and they died for him because of that same love.

thinking about adrastus dying after aegialus is already dead and leaving argos in the hands of a bunch of kids, essentially. imagine how much all of them were dealing with; i mean comeatho has just given birth to cyanippus and now has to raise him both without aegialus AND to become the next king of argos someday, aegialia has just lost her father and her brother AND is now married to her much older sister's kid who she doesn't really know (or would have wanted to marry anyway likely), and diomedes now is forced to play king AND husband AND uncle/father figure in between running around for all the wars. my poor babies :((

trying to prove a point to my homophobic parents!!

reblog if you think it's okay to drag the corpse of your rival around the walls of his home city on account of your unrelenting rage

Ok so, The Troy movie is not amazing and has a lot of issues as a retelling and it's understanding of the characters. BUT the armor for a lot of the characters is WAY better than anything I've seen from The Odyssey set and I think what separates them is the pattern and ornamentation as opposed to the flat armor.

Armor and clothing are just as ingrained to culture and history as the layout of a kingdom.

Hell, if anything, the armor should be THE MOST detailed because the Iliad/The Odyssey were super descriptive of the making and layout of various armors, weapons and shields of the royal figures.

I can only come to two conclusions of why Christopher Nolans Oddsey looks so bland outfit wise.

Either there was some finaical issue with the costume department.

Or that they're going for a "grounded" take on The Odyssey and Greek Mythology and almost try to modernize it but it's just going to end up misrepresenting the source material and culture it's linked to.
