I think using genAI is completely morally neutral and I think being overly hostile toward people who use it is dumb. However I sympathize with people making "AI is bad" posts and then getting their notes flooded with people saying "yes but I use chatgpt for [insert justification here]" because tumblr users' inability to just shut the fuck up on a post that isn't about them is infuriating

you've all gotta stop acting like "overweight" is a gentle PC alternative for the word fat and not itself an assertion of the ontological wrongness of being large. Over What Weight Precisely

and it feels very much like a product of this thing where the majority of people cannot ever conceptualize fatphobia or fat politics as legitimate or really anything beyond a meanness/bullying issue that can be solved with a couple language tweaks and one plus size runway show a year. it's great that you know not to be actively vitriolic towards fat people, but if you're still calling us "overweight" and talking about the ""obesity epidemic"" and justifying our presence in the world only through the fact that losing weight and keeping it off is difficult so we should really be pitied instead of hated, you're still moralizing around our bodies and positing them as a problem!

i trust your opinion: how would you sexualize internal bleeding

what isn't sexy about blood pressing and spreading a path beneath your skin with its dark, bruising fingers? a cut you can't reach deep enough to hold shut; a hole you cannot close? a wound that will devour you from the inside out? i mean, it's literally inside you

I try to beat the "only listens to The Mountain Goats" allegations, really I do, but also I'm on a quest to listen to all of their released music on Spotify and I'm nearly done with the full albums meaning I've listened to a grand total of 24 mountain goats albums in the past, idk, year or so? Twice. I listen to them twice so I really absorb the music. I've got 4 left (the oldest ones). Then I'm moving on the singles and EPs. Then I'll probably listen to the jordan lake session album releases. All that to say TMG have been my top artist 4 years running and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. Also soon enough I'll need to start digging around for the unreleased stuff

i dont think its necessarily ableist to hate AI art, but if you then qualify that by arguing that art derives its meaning from the effort and skill that went into it then you're being kinda ableist

and if you link inspirationporn videos of amputees painting with their noses like "now what's your excuse" then you are 100% being ableist

Ai art is literally theft???

I don’t know a single disabled person who supports art theft

theft is fine, especially when its art

Corporations are rapidly mobilizing to claim everything we ever wrote, painted, or imagined, as intellectual property to sell back to us, destroying all usefulness of legal protections for creators. There is NO kindness for disabled creators baked into this overt theft of IP, it's a violation.

They're trying to remove the condition of paying their artists from the benefit of using art for their money making.

AI "art" hurts disabled creators too, and worst of all, it prevents disabled creators from having even their most feeble pay day. Do not fall for this scam!

it is morally permissible for disabled people specifically to damage the environment actually

Its not the cool funny or quirky take to give disabled people a pass to cause harm because they have a disability. This is such an incredibly privileged take. This wreaks of 2010's tumblr activism of getting upset for a community you're not part of. You're able to create the art you want to make. Why are you championing for the use of AI in creative spaces?

Its not quirky or funny. Its condescending, disappointing, ableist, and really embarrassing.

disabled people are allowed to cause harm because they have a disability

My autistic ass is making my mind reel at that one last take. I've managed to understand via contextual examination that the "environment" and the "theft" affirmations are half-sarcastic at least, but the "disabled people are allowed to cause harm because they have a disability" thing has left me like 😵‍💫.

I want to think it's sarcastic too. I've found this post has been reblogged by a user I do support and agree with, namely @reachartwork. :'v

i think disabled people should be allowed to hunt the abled for sport, with guns

literally. like did we not go through all of this with fucking plastic straws and pre-cut vegetables.

ultimately you have to be willing to relinquish the spoils of the in-group if it's demanding moral bankruptcy of you. you have to not accept the bribes of power. and you have to do this over and over again even if you lose materially

i think when it comes to knowledge gaps (especially on tumblr) its easy to get insecure about not knowing everything. but the real secret is that you can get away with not knowing everything if you just dont insert yourself into conversations you dont understand with blind confidence. the internet also gives you the privilege of 1) googling/wikipediaing shit before you say it, and 2) not volunteering how little you know. you dont actually have to enter the conversation just to say how little you know. part of the stereotype of dipshit stupid american on here is that americans will say full chestedly that they dont know which continent tchad is in and then go out of their way to justify it with their lack of education. when no one asked them to say either thing. and even if someone did ask, you are never under any obligation to actually answer.

trans women: ugh i'm so tired of being seen as a disgusting worthless sex object

50% of people: aww don't worry i see you as a desireable sex object <3

other 50% of people: i just combed through your social media account and found out you have expressed sexuality several times before, even as recently as just last week. if you're not gonna be perfectly chaste and completely repress this emotion that most people have then you can't expect people not to see you as a sex object. you basically are one anyways
