Danny sighs as he feels something brush against his lips followed by fingers softly carding through his hair.

“I’m off, I’ll be back for lunch.”

Danny hmms and rolls over, waving his hand in Steve’s general direction and grumbles, “Too early, go away.”

He can’t see Steve but he just knows he’s grinning when he says, “Love you too, see you later.”

An hour later Danny stumbles into the kitchen, he flicks on the coffee maker and yawns. As he waits for the click that’ll signal his coffee is ready, he glances around the kitchen. His presence is all over the place, he’s home here. Their relationship shifted into something more a few months back and other than the sex, nothing really changed for them. The machine clicks and Danny sighs as he takes his first sip of coffee, he grabs a mint patty from the fridge before he heads outside. Eddie is following close behind, wagging his tail.

He takes his time reading the newspaper, enjoying the breeze coming from the ocean. After his second cup of coffee he’s finally ready to start his day. He’s standing in the bathroom, wiping the fog from the mirror when the reflection catches a glint. He turns to look at it and frowns as he picks the silver chain of the hook, Steve never leaves without his tags.

Danny takes them with him into the bedroom and displays them on the bed before snapping a picture of them and sending it to Steve.

He’s already downstairs when his phone chimes, he opens the text, ‘Keep them safe’

He picks the tags up, tracing Steve’s name as an idea begins to form. He slides the chain over his head and opens the camera on his phone in selfie mode, snapping a picture of his chest with the tags resting between his pecs. He checks the photo, you can’t see where he is, just his throat, bare chest and the tags. Grinning, he sends it and glances at the clock, he has plenty of time to get ready.
